Joel Corry has revealed he has cut down his friendship circle and ‘isolated’ himself at times to become a successful DJ.
The Lionheart hitmaker, 36, showed off his muscular physique as he posed shirtless on the cover of Men’s Fitness Magazine.
And in an interview with the publication, Joel opened up about the sacrifices he has made to become a successful DJ, as well as how he balances fitness with his demanding schedule.
He explained: ‘I do have a very small inner circle. In terms of music, there’s a few people that I really trust. So, if I’m working on something and I want to get some feedback, there’s a few people that I know I’d send it to. And they’ll give me honest criticism.
‘As far as my team and friendship circle goes, I think over the years, I had to really isolate myself because of how much focus and commitment I had to put in to making this goal happen. And a sacrifice of that is probably a lot of social time. And, over the years, maybe my friendship circle was cut down a lot.
‘But this is how I operate. I’ve never been a hugely social person either. I’m very focused on what I’m doing. I have the people that are close to me, that know me really well, that I trust, and that’s all I need.’

Elsewhere during the interview, Joel, who was a pro bodybuilder before becoming a DJ, discussed how important fitness is for his mental health.
He said: ‘If I don’t do it I am not the same person. That’s why it’s so important for me to make sure I get that workout in. And it’s the anchor for my whole day. From that moment onwards, it’s like that my day begins and I’m Joel.
‘When I have to skip those workouts because I’m traveling or there’s simply not enough time, I really feel it mentally.
‘The mental benefit I get from my training now far outweighs the physical: it makes me a better DJ, it makes me a better producer and it just makes me a better person.’
The multi-BRIT nominee went on to share how he combines a global touring schedule with staying in shape
Joel said: ‘I always make my fitness a huge priority, and I will get up at the crack of dawn to find the nearest gym and get that workout in before the first interview starts because I need to tick that box mentally. And it honestly helps me perform so much better.
‘Obviously, there’s a big physical benefit from keeping up my fitness regime, but the mental benefits are huge for me as well. My workout is my anchor. You’re never more than an Uber ride away from the nearest gym, no matter where you are in the world. I always just make time for it.’

Back in 2023, Joel admitted that he has ‘no space in his life’ for a relationship, but later confirmed he is in a relationship with Love Island’s Coco Lodge.
He also revealed that he fears he could ‘miss out’ on the chance of having a family due to his busy work schedule.
In an interview with Unfiltered, Joel detailed the downsides to his career, revealing he finds it ‘tricky’ to juggle a relationship and would rather not have the ‘distraction’.
He said: ‘Yeah, that’s [having a relationship] tricky. That’s definitely the biggest sacrifice. I mean, I’ve been single now for six years and there’s no space in my life to have a relationship.
‘I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. I am so committed to this career to what I’m doing that I don’t feel like I need it. I don’t feel like I’m missing it.
‘I’m happy doing what I’m doing, and I don’t almost want a distraction. To do what I want to do takes so much focus that I don’t want anything to get in the way of it.
‘I know I need that tunnel vision, that laser focus, to make this happen.’
He added: ‘I mean the thing is, a relationship, it takes work. I’ve been in them before and my life is very selfish, so I’m always on the road.
‘I’m in a different country nearly every day. I’m on a flight nearly every day and my time is consumed with the music I’m making and the sets I’m preparing and how would I ever dedicate any more time to give someone love?’

Asked about his future and how he feels about starting a family, Joel said: ‘My mom always says, she’s like ‘Joel, when are you going to settle down?’, I’m like ‘How am I going to do it? I’m going on tour.”
‘It does creep in my mind. Every now and again, obviously I do want to have a family. Everyone does. Of course I do. But at the same time, I know I need to stay so focused on what I’m doing and it’s not something that I can explore right now.
‘I need to, there’s so many more goals and things I want to achieve in this career that I’m doing that there isn’t room for it.
‘But right now, it’s definitely a hundred percent focus on what I’m doing and in the future who knows what’s going to happen.’
In August, Coco confirmed her romance with Joel after months of dating in secret, posting two photos with Joel on Instagram after the couple spent a romantic week together in Ibiza.
A source told Daily Mail at the time: ‘Coco and Joel have been dating since the beginning of the year. They have so much in common, they’re both fun loving people, and adore music, fitness and travel.’
