Joe Swash Jokes David Beckham Shouldn’t Message Stacey Solomon: “No Competition!”

Joe Swash has jokingly warned David Beckham not to speak to his wife Stacey Solomon, admitting having the former footballer around was ‘the last thing I need’.

The EastEnders star, 43, made the confession after his TV personality wife, 35, reached out to David, 50, for advice on beekeeping.

In the latest episode of their fly-on-the-wall docuseries, Stacey & Joe, the mum-of-five revealed her plans to get a beehive at Pickle Cottage, to cultivate her own range of homemade honey.

And her older sister Gemma was quick to persuade Stacey to reach out to David – who has also taking up beekeeping after installing a series of hives in the grounds of his £12million Cotswolds bolthole.

Stacey reluctantly sent the former England midfielder a voice note on Instagram with the vague hope of getting an invite to his Cotswolds garden.

Nervously giggling, she said: ‘Hi David, I really feel embarrassed messaging you, but my sister told me I should message you and ust ask you about bees!

‘I’m getting a beehive and I know you and Victoria have got bees and they’re a big part of your life, so I just wondered if you had any top tips or advice.’

Visibly cringing, she added: ‘I’m already regretting sending you this message because I know you’ll never see it, or hear it, and if you do you’ll probably think I’m a weirdo.’

Clicking send on the voice note, an embarrassed Stacey immediately admitted: ‘I hope he never sees that!’

Confronting her sister, she insisted: ‘I’m going to be blacklisted from all cool things now because I’ve just sent David Beckham the most loser-ish message.

‘You don’t even want me to get bee advice, you just want to go to David Beckham’s house!’

But as expected, the Manchester United star failed to acknowledge the message – much to the relief of Joe, who warned David ‘hands off!’

He joked: ‘Damn right he didn’t reply, he better not either. Hands off mate! I don’t need David Beckham as competition!

‘It’s the last thing I need. I’ve got dogs, ducks, the last thing I need is David Beckham.’

Rolling her eyes at her husband’s antics, Stacey cut in: ‘He’s got a lovely wife and children, what are you talking about? I just wanted to know if he had any advice on beekeeping, because he looks quite hands on.’

Joe shot back: ‘Yeah that old chestnut’ as Stacey continued: ‘Well from the snippet in the documentary that I saw, he had the suit on and all that, so he looked like he knows what he’s doing.’

Joe interrupted to quip: ‘Yeah lovely, he looked good in that suit, didn’t he?’ causing an irritated Stacey to probe: ‘Do you fancy David Beckham?’

The actor rushed to deny to accusation, insisting: ‘No I don’t fancy David Beckham! I just don’t need him in our lives!’

David frequently shares his love for beekeeping on Instagram, after discovering his passion for the insects and even launching his own honey-based snack business.

Adding to his estimated £372million ($450m) net worth, he created BEEUP, a honey-powered snack for children, available in Target stories across the United States.

The idea has long been in the running since he got into beekeeping and making honey in lockdown – which his wife Victoria prefers to call ‘David’s Sticky Stuff’.

Announcing the launch on social media in June, David wrote: ‘I’m so excited that @beeupsnacks is finally here. A real passion project for me and something I’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while.

‘Since building my first hive in 2020 I’ve fallen in love with beekeeping and I’ve learnt so much about the health benefits of honey.

‘As a dad and as a former athlete I wanted to create something for kids to enjoy as part of an active lifestyle so we created BEEUP…..delicious, honey-based snacks.

‘Available now in the US at @target I can’t wait for you to try it’.

Despite his apparent success as a beekeeper, David found himself in hot water in 2024 after neighbours accused him of placing beehives on the boundary of his mansion – in a ‘buzz off’ message to nosey snoopers.

Furious locals feared they would come under attack from swarming insects after the former England captain installed two new hives next to a public footpath.

Neighbours said the positioning of the structures defies public safety advice.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: ‘It’s funny really because they seem to think locals spend their whole time obsessing about what they get up to.

‘We really don’t. We couldn’t care less. It smacks of massive self-importance. The Beckhams are the epitome of the DFLs (Down From London) crowd which has completely taken over this area.

‘The new hives recently appeared more than 330 yards from the family’s home. They are just feet away from a public footpath running along the western reaches of the property.’

According to Allergy UK, there are many species of bees in Britain but only the honeybee commonly stings – and it is usually ‘beekeepers, their family or neighbours who get stung’.
