Jodie Marsh, 44, Acknowledges that Her Builder Boyfriend Mark is Her First ‘Grown-Up Relationship’ After a History of Dating Con Men, but Says She’s Not Ready to Say “I Love You” Yet

Jodie Marsh has opened up about her romance with boyfriend Mark, who works as a builder at her animal sanctuary Fripps Farm.

The glamour model, 44, was quick to heap praise on her new partner but admitted she doesn’t want to make the same mistake she’s made in the past by rushing into any major commitments.

Jodie – who went Instagram official with Mark in June – told MailOnline: ‘I’m finally in what I like to call an adult relationship which is you know, I’ve had a lot of ag with boyfriends.

‘I’ve not had a good time in the past with me. I’ve been targeted by con men who have pretended to be one thing and then, and then actually their true colors have shown and they’re not who they say they are at all.

‘But also I’ve made bad choices in the past, but we all do when it’s matters of the heart.’

‘Everyone at Fripps knows Mark as “Mark the builder” and we’re together all day long because he’s here building enclosures and fencing and fixing the maintenance, everything. And then of course, you know, we’re all here just caring for the animals.

‘We are being quite cool, like we haven’t said the L word [love] yet, but I think again that shows it’s I’m being adult about this.

‘You know years ago, I’d be like, “oh my God, I love him!” I just used to get overexcited in relationships whereas now we’re just chilling and just taking every day as it comes.

‘We’re all working for the greater good of the animals. Actually, the animals come first above everything, above our relationship, above everything.

‘That’s what’s cool is actually there’s a team of us here and Mark’s part of that, that we all just work every day for the animals.’

Jodie’s new romance comes after she split from Elvis impersonator ex Billy Collins, who she discovered had been cheating on her with multiple women.

The media personality announced the news of her split from Billy in May 2022, claiming that she’d discovered revealing photos from other women on his phone.

She wrote: ‘Billy and I have split up. Turns out he’s been cheating on me for the whole three years.

‘Sexting other girls and begging for naked photos – which he’s got by the bucketload.

‘This has been going on literally the whole three years we’ve been together.

‘He admitted to everything when I confronted him and I have screen shot ALL the evidence to prove it as I’m not going to have anything think anything other than the truth.

‘I gave him the world and it still wasn’t enough. Please allow me some space – I’m not even done grieving for my mum yet. This is really hard to comprehend as I truly thought I’d found my soulmate.’

Jodie and Billy first started dating in May 2019 and she previously said she planned to freeze her eggs so they could start a family together.

Their romance came after Jodie announced she had ended things with her ex Wayne Lennox in January 2019.

Her relationship with Wayne had brought to an end to her three-year long celibacy pledge, which came after she split from second husband James Placido in 2016.

The couple had only been married for eight months, and Jodie publicly confirmed their split in a lengthy Twitter rant in which she claimed he had been making ‘monetary demands’.

Jodie was also briefly married to Matt Peacock in 2007 for just two months after the pair met on the reality show Totally Jodie Marsh: Who’ll Take Her Up the Aisle?

In 2008, Jodie also briefly dated female hairdresser Nina, and they both appeared on Snog, Marry, Avoid? and just a year later after their split, she vowed to undergo five years of celibacy.

It was a pledge the star managed to keep when she dated TOWIE’s Kirk Norcross in 2012 for just two weeks, as he later alleged she refused to sleep with him in an interview with Reveal magazine.

Jodie was got engaged to DJ David Doyle in 2006 after just 11 days of dating but the couple called it quits just weeks later.

Now Jodie is enjoying her new romance with Mark and while he works on repairs around the sanctuary, she deals with the finances.

Jodie raised £60,000 to build a fence at Fripps Farm by stripping off on OnlyFans, explaining: ‘Before we became a C.I.C (Community Interest Company) I was funding it all myself and I did it by doing OnlyFans.

‘The perimeter fence alone for securing the animals cost £60,000 so I had to pay for that with OnlyFans. My boobs paid for the fences and they also paid the staff’s wages!’

Now that Fripps is a C.I.C they can accept public donations to help with the day-to-day costs and Jodie was quick to thank her ‘utterly amazing’ followers who have donated money or bought food for the animals.

Every donation makes a difference, with Jodie revealing she’s made £20,000 just from asking people to donate £1 towards the farm.

As it stands, Jodie needs to raise £16,000 a month to keep the farm running and while she makes this through donations she confessed it’s ‘tough’ to stay afloat when additional costs occur.

While Jodie is kept busy planning the finances of her rescue centre she revealed she’s proud to dispel the typical stereotype of being a ‘bimbo’ glamour model.

She explained: ‘When I first got famous it was quite well documented that I went to a private school and that I’ve got 11 GCSES and I was really clever, so I think people who have known me from the start, they’ve always known that I’ve got a brain.

‘Actually I think that some people hate me in the start because they were like, “well if she’s so clever, why is she getting her boots out?”

‘But I saw it as the quickest way to make lots of money actually. For me, it was a clever move because it was something I could do really easily and really quickly to raise lots and lots of money for myself.

‘So if people have followed me a long time or know about me, then I think they know that I’ve got a brain.

‘But occasionally you get like the odd person that thinks, “oh what does she know She’s a glamour model.” And I quite enjoy putting them in their place!

‘If somebody says some stupid comment online, I’ll reply and I’ve never yet lost a  social media row yet!’

Yet it hasn’t always been easy dealing with the trolling, as Jodie confessed: ‘You just have to grow such a thick skin because when I first started in the public eye I used to get really hurt by the trolling.

‘I was suicidal at one point. But I was young, I was in my early twenties, I just didn’t know how to handle it because I sort of naively thought that if you get famous and you’re a nice person that people will just be nice to you… But of course, that’s not the case.

‘So over the years I’ve just grown a really thick skin and now I think part of learning to deal with any trolling or bullying in life is learning to love yourself.

‘Now I find it funny when I get trolled. If you’ve got trolls it’s because you’re doing enough to p**s them off, like you’re doing so well in life and you’re happy and you’re successful.

‘That’s what makes people get bitter and twisted. The other thing I always remind people of is that happy, people don’t hurt people.’

Jodie is happier than ever working on her animal sanctuary and refuses to turn away an animal in need.

But she works with other rescue centres who help out where they can, recently teaming up with Anna Milosevic to rehome Leo the iguana at her reptile rescue center in Coulson, The Dragon Shelter.

Jodie explained: ‘Anna and I met years ago when we both worked in the same nightclub and we hooked up again recently because she’s now rescuing reptiles and we get lots and lots of reptiles.

‘She’s offered to take our Iguana for us and he’s a very big boy, very fit and healthy and in tip top shape. By rehoming him to Anna, it frees up space for us to take in any more that need homes and also any emergency cases because at the moment we’re sort of full up.

‘It’s really cool that Anna’s going to take him because she’ll give him the best life and it’s just wonderful that we’ve played a part in finding him his forever home.’
