Jodie Foster became teary-eyed as she listened to Jamie Lee Curtis’ moving tribute while presenting Best Supporting Actress during the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday.
The Silence Of The Lambs star, 61 – who was nominated for her role in the biographical sports drama, Nyad – could be seen sitting amongst the audience as Curtis took to the stage.
The Oscar winner, 65, was also joined by Mary Steenburgen, Lupita Nyong’o, Rita Moreno as well as Regina King during the ceremony.
Curtis announced Foster – whom she called her ‘bestie’ – as the first nominee in the category and began, ‘So, I am thrilled to be back on this stage to present this year’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar.’
‘And I I am beyond proud to be able to talk about one of my besties,’ she gushed with a smile while turning in the direction of her close pal.

‘So in Nyad, Jodie Foster brings a physical intensity, coupled with deep concern and care as Bonnie Stoll to Diana Nyad’s fierce best friend, motivator and serious a**-kicker.’
Jamie then added, ‘And speaking from personal experience, all of those qualities are very really about Jodie as well.’
Foster’s eyes began to glisten as she smilingly gazed up towards the stage as the Halloween actress shared the speech.
In conclusion, Curtis said, ‘There is no one you would rather have your back than the multi-talented Jodie Foster.’
As the audience burst into applause, the Taxi Driver blew a kiss in the direction of Jamie while still looking tearful.
Other nominees in the Best Supporting Actress Category included Emily Blunt, America Ferrera, Danielle Brooks and Da’Vine Joy Randolph – who ended up being the recipient of the honor for her role in The Holdovers.
Jodie and Jamie have had a close bond over the years, although the pair have yet to star in a project together.
However, the two notably appeared in different versions of the movie Freaky Friday. Curtis starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in the 2003 film while Foster worked with Barbara Harris in 1977.

And in 2013, Curtis was involved in a car accident in Venice Beach, California – and Jodie rushed to the scene to be by her friend’s side.
Earlier this year in January, Jamie opened up about her friendship with Jodie during an interview on the Today show. ‘Just so you know, she is one of my best friends.’
‘She’s in a group with her wife, my husband, and our other friend – we call them “Besties.”‘ We’re in a text chain together.’
‘And at the Golden Globes two years ago, the one during COVID, she won a Golden Globe and I presented it and when I opened it I went, “Oh, my bestie!” So I know Jodie,’ the star continued.
The Panic Room actress notably also appeared on the Today show the following day, and had sweet words for her close pal.
‘She’s my bestie. We have a group. It’s a group of us, six of us, and we do everything together,’ she explained.

The 2024 Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, and brought a number of A-listers to the event for Hollywood’s biggest night.
Jodie put on an elegant display wearing a sleeveless, dark navy dress that was made of satin material and contained shimmering details on the skirt portion.
The halter-styled gown also had a long strip of fabric that loosely fell down past her knees on the right side.
Jamie was classy in a fitted, black dress that clung to her frame and easily flowed down towards the ground.

The star donned a pair of glittering earrings as well as a gold arm cuff that was placed on her right wrist.
During the night, Jodie’s Nyad co-star, Annette Bening, was also nominated for Best Actress – which eventually went to Emma Stone, who notably suffered a wardrobe malfunction while accepting the honor.
Nyad received critical acclaim upon its release, and garnered other nods amidst this year’s awards season, including two SAG Award nominations as well as two Golden Globe nods.
Last year, Curtis notably won her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
