Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page was left in utter hysterics after receiving a surprise message from the daughter of a stripper who starred in the iconic show.
Ahead of the show’s return later this year, the actress had previously recalled the day she filmed her character’s hen party in an episode of her Off The Telly podcast with pal Natalie Cassidy.
In the episode, Joanna recalled that the man they enlisted to perform a striptease for Stacey was a real stripper called Top Boy, and confessed that he enlisted the help of an elastic band to boost his manhood during the saucy scene.
And in the latest episode of the show, Joanna was stunned when she learned that the stripper’s daughter Kerry had sent them a message, sharing his appearance in the comedy had long been a running joke in her family.
She said: ‘Hello ladies Kerry from Bristol here, I’ve just listened to your bonus comfort telly episode and I lost my mind, because my dad, was the stripper in the episode of Gavin and Stacey that Joanna was talking about.

Ahead of the show’s return later this year, the actress had previously recalled the day she filmed her character’s hen party in an episode of her Off The Telly podcast
‘It’s been a joke for my whole life, telling people that’s a true story, and then people not believing it until they watch it and meet my dad.
‘I called him immediately and told him that you were talking about him. I just had to message in and say that I’m the daughter of the toy boy with the elastic round his penis.’
Joanna couldn’t contain her shock at the message and said: ‘I’ve just got so many questions and images, so that must be about 20 years ago, does he still strip? What does he do now?’
Natalie added: ‘That is one of my favourite messages so far.’
Joanna had previously recalled her time filming Stacey’s Hen Party in a bonus episode of Off The Telly, which was released a month earlier.
The episode featured in the show’s first series, and saw Stacey and her best friend Nessa enjoying wild celebrations ahead of her wedding to whirlwind partner Gavin.
‘That was one of our favourite ever days of filming, because they got a real-life stripper in for Stacey’s hen party,’ Joanna said.
‘We were all dressed up as schoolgirls for starters so there was mild hysteria for starters, and then they got this stripped in and his name was Toy Boy, and he had this black leather thong on with in little crytals, the letters TB for Toy Boy, and I just remember the director saying ‘let’s do a walkthrough of what you think.”

In the latest episode of her Off The Telly podcast, Joanna was stunned when she learned that the stripper’s daughter Kerry had sent them a message
‘So I always remember he put on Tom Jones’ Sex Bomb, he jumped on the air and started humping on my lap, I was in utter hysteria at this point!
‘And then he stood in front of me and he whipped his trousers off, and I just remember, there was this black thong so close to my face, and then in one move he went [whoosh] and the whole shebang came off.
‘The whole lot came off, I was enjoying myself I couldn’t stop laughing I was in shock.’
After they finishing running through the scene, Joanna said she knew ‘something was wrong,’ as the stripped said he needed to into the toilets and ‘get himself ready.’
She added: ‘The really professional producer Lindsey came right up to me before they shouted action, and she whispered in my ear, ”he’s got an elastic band wrapped round it.” And then ran off and yelled ”action!”
‘So I was just sat there thinking ‘an elastic band, elastic band.’
‘Then it got to the bit and he whipped it off and he had, he’d gone to the toilet to get himself pumped up, and then he tied an elastic band around it, and that’s all I remember, the elastic band!’
After the news that Gavin and Stacey would return for its last ever episode this Christmas, it’s now been reported that fans will be treated to a double helping of the beloved BBC comedy.
Earlier this month, the sitcom’s stars Corden, 45, and Ruth Jones, 57, announced that it was returning for one last episode.
And in addition to the grand finale, BBC bosses have commissioned a special behind-the-scenes documentary which will look at the programme’s 17-year history.
Cameras have been following the cast, including titular stars Horne and Page as they film scenes for the last ever instalment.
A TV insider told The Sun: ‘The Beeb view this as a momentous occasion and wanted to give Gavin & Stacey a suitably auspicious send-off.
‘The fact that the documentary will be made by Fulwell 73, which is co-owned by James and is a co-producer of the sitcom, means they’ll enjoy full access on set and get all the biggest chats.
‘It is likely to be made in tandem with the show itself, filming the creative process of delivering the finale from the first to the last day.’
MailOnline has contacted a representative for further comment.
Show creators James Corden and Ruth Jones shocked the BBC sitcom’s millions of viewers in May with the news they have written the final episode.
The pair reunited in secret to pen the special after recently denying another episode was in the works, nearly five years after the last episode aired in 2019.
Taking to Instagram, the pair shared a black and white photo of themselves holding up the script.
Alongside the post, they wrote: ‘Some news… It’s official! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James!’
Fans expressed their joy at the news under James and Ruth’s post. Among those sharing their delight was Rio Ferdinand who wrote: ‘I’m clearing the diary.’
Other celebrities including Gordon Ramsay, John Bishop, Ferne Cotton and Amanda Holden all shared their delight.

Last month it was revealed that the beloved comedy would return to screens for its last ever episode on Christmas Day
Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, reshared James and Ruth’s photo to her Instagram and wrote: ‘Oh my God it’s happening! So excited! Last ever Gavin And Stacey! Christmas Day @bbcone Can’t wait to start filming!’
Joanna also shared a statement with ITV’s Loose Women that read: ‘I’m very excited for the return of the Gavin and Stacey and can’t wait to come back on and tell you all about it’.
The actress also revealed she ‘can’t wait to find out what happens’ next on the BBC show as she doesn’t know what happens after the 2019 Christmas cliffhanger when Nessa proposed to Smithy.
Several fans said they finally wanted to know what happened on character Bryn’s notorious fishing trip with his nephew Jason which they both refuse to speak about, a long-running joke on the series.
It was previously reported that a new episode of Gavin And Stacey was in the works but Ruth Jones denied it.
The critically acclaimed series follows the lives of the two titular characters Gavin from Essex and Stacey from South Wales, documenting key points in their long-distance relationship and events that bring the two families together.
Gavin And Stacey first aired in 2007 and ran for just 21 episodes, spanning three seasons and two Christmas specials. The show’s popularity was stratospheric with 2019’s Christmas special garnering a whopping 18.49million viewers.
At the climax of the episode, Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy, played by Corden, but viewers did not get to hear his response.
Joanna Page and Natalie Cassidy’s Off The Telly podcast is available on BBC Sounds.
