Joanna Page explains why her kids can’t watch Love Actually and skips her own scenes.

Joanna Page has revealed why she will not let her children watch legendary Christmas movie, Love Actually.

The Welsh actress, 48, who starred as Just Judy in the 2003 romantic comedy, said her eldest daughter Eva, 12, has always asked to watch the festive film.

However, Joanna, who is also mother to Boe, Kit and Noah with husband James Thornton, confessed she will not allow her to watch due to her saucy scenes with co-star Martin Freeman, 54, which feature the pair as body doubles for sex scenes.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the actress said: ‘Last year, my eldest, Eva, kept on asking if we could watch Love Actually and I had to say “We can’t darling, it’s not suitable because mummy’s in the nude all the way through it”…

‘But she’s dying to watch it. I was flicking through the channels last year and it came on, so I watched it for a bit.’

However, she will fast-forward through her nude scenes.

She added: ‘So I think this year might be the first year I go “Ok, we’re going to watch Love Actually, but we’ll have to fast-forward through some of mummy’s scenes.’

The 2003 Christmas romantic comedy, written and directed by Richard Curtis, features a star-studded cast including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, and Alan Rickman.

The movie narrates the story of eight couples, of different ages and walks of life, who encounter love in their own special ways; all in the beautiful days leading up to Christmas in London.

Love Actually was a huge success in the UK, becoming a box-office smash hit with £36.4 million in UK box office takings and earning its place as Britain’s favourite Christmas movie.

It comes weeks after Joanna opened up about suffering heartbreak right at the time she was soaring to fame on Gavin and Stacey.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the actress said: 'Last year, my eldest, Eva, kept on asking if we could watch Love Actually and I had to say "We can't darling, it's not suitable because mummy's in the nude all the way through it"

The actress is known for playing Stacey Shipman in the BAFTA-winning BBC sitcom – which ran from 2007 until 2009.

And Joanna opened up about how challenging it was for herself and husband James, 49, to live long distance as they both worked as actors before having children.

She was down in London soaking up the Gavin and Stacey fame when James was cast as John Barton in Emmerdale in 2009, soon moving to Leeds for the role while Joanna remained in the capital.

Joanna revealed she was ‘miserable’ during this time as she would come home and just sit with her dog, feeling lonely.

She said she didn’t feel like doing much and admitted to turning down showbiz work because she was ‘really, really down’.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature festival, The Mirror reported Joanna said: ‘So to the outside, it looks like your life was so wonderful, and we were winning awards.

‘And you know, it was really exciting and we were going to different things and different appearances and stuff, but inside my heart was just breaking.’

She added: ”I just go back home, and I sit with Daisy our dog, and I just, you know, I didn’t go out.

‘I didn’t want to do anything for a while, it didn’t really work as much as I could have, because I was just very miserable.’

However the couple recovered from the tough period and remain together now. They have since welcomed children Eva, Kit, 10, Noah, eight, and Boe, three.
