Aussie funnyman Jim Jeffries has spilled the beans on Brad Pitt’s hilarious 2020 BAFTAs speech.
Speaking with Mick Molloy and Mark Geyer on Triple M’s Mick & MG in the Morning on Friday, the comedian revealed that he was responsible for the jokes delivered by Aussie actress Margot Robbie in the now viral acceptance speech.
Brad had picked up the best supporting actor role for his turn in Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, and asked his co-star to deliver his speech should he win as he was unable to attend.
His speech raised eyebrows as he joked about Brexit, saying, ‘Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club!’
The speech also included jokes about about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the UK for Canada – saying he plans to call the award Harry because he was looking forward ‘to taking it back to America’.
And Jim revealed that he was behind the jokes that were delivered in front of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
‘Here’s a fun one for you,’ he told the radio hosts. ‘A joke that I wrote got mentioned in Prince Harry’s book.
‘I can say this now, it’s been year’s since this happened. I wrote a lot of the jokes for Brad Pitt when he won the Oscar for Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.’

The comedian continued: ‘He was meant to do the BAFTAS but he had some family issue or something so he didn’t go to England for the BAFTAs so Margot Robbie had to read out his acceptance speech.’
Jim then recounted the joke about Harry, which was met with roars of laughter from the hosts.
‘Brad would’ve said this: “I’m going to call this trophy Harry because I’m going to take it back to America and you’ll never see it again.”‘

Margot repeated Jim’s joke in the speech saying Brad planned to call the award Harry because he was looking forward ‘to taking it back to America’.
He added that he was equally chuffed to see Prince William enjoying the subtle dig, after he discovered in Harry’s memoir Spare that the brothers were arguing just days before the event.
‘Turns out in the book Harry and William had had a day that day, or a couple of days earlier,’ he said.
‘They’d had a scuffle and to see William laughing at that joke… predicted it.’
Appearing on Good Morning America after the speech, Margot revealed she had been ‘so panicked’ about standing in for the hunky star.
The situation had her so flustered that the Australian actress, who was nominated for two roles, forgot to prepare an acceptance speech for herself in case she won.

‘He, like the night before, was like ‘Can you do my speech for me? I can’t be there,’ and I was so panicked about his speech that I didn’t even think about preparing one for myself,’ she said.
‘I was up for two, for both films in my category, and it wasn’t until I was in the car on the way there that I was like ‘Oh my gosh, I hope I don’t win because I don’t have anything to say,” she added.
Robbie had been nominated twice in the best supporting actress category, for Bombshell and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, but lost out to Oscar favorite Laura Dern for Marriage Story.
It’s not the first time that Jim has collaborated with the Hollywood A-Lister.
Brad was a frequent guest on Jim’s Comedy Central show, delivering hilariously apocalyptic weather reports on the satirical show.
