Jessie J Addresses Feud with Spice Girls’ Mel B After ‘D***head’ Comment

Jessie J has broken her silence on her bitter feud with Mel B, after the Spice Girls singer branded her a ‘d***head’.

The hitmaker, 37, remained silent at the time of the comment in 2022, but during an appearance on KISS FM on Friday, she finally decided to open up about the situation.

Speaking to host Harriet Rose, Jessie said: ‘Let me just talk about something that I’ve never talked about.

‘I’ve never worked with this person but I just want to acknowledge it in this moment because I feel safe. I probably shouldn’t but here we go.’

She continued: ‘So on TV, she said I was a d***head, out of nowhere.’

The clip bleeped out the name Jessie had mentioned, with a shocked Harriet  responding: ‘No she didn’t.’

Harriet added: ‘I saw this clip and I don’t want to say it because it’s very wrong, but she said that you were overrated.’

Jessie replied: ‘No, no that was one time, but then there was another interview where someone said to her ‘who are three people that are being a d***head,’ and she named me, Geri Halliwell and James Corden.

‘And I was like, I’ve literally met her once.’

Daily Mail has contacted Jessie’s representative for comment.

The comment was made by Mel while appearing on Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show.

Asked by Mo Gilligan who she considered to be the ‘biggest dickhead celebrity,’ Mel replied: ‘So, there’s a few. James Corden, Geri Halliwell, Jessie J and me.’

It comes just days after Jessie revealed she feels like she is ‘in the middle of a storm with her umbrella up’ as she prepares for her second breast cancer operation.

The Price Tag singer underwent a mastectomy in June as part of her treatment for her cancer, which was caught early.

However, she was rushed back to hospital last month with an infection and fluid on her lungs, due to her low immune system.

She was then forced to cancel tour dates after being told by medics she needs to have a second operation.

Appearing on Capital XTRA on Sunday to speak to her friend Manny Norte, Jessie shared a health update.

Asked how she’s feeling, she said: ‘I feel good! I feel like I’m obviously still… I feel like I’m in the middle of a storm, but I’m just making sure that my umbrella is up.’

Speaking about her mastectomy and implant, Jessie said: ‘It’s so weird. So weird. I can’t feel it. I don’t have much sensation.

‘It’s so strange, and I’m straight to it. Zero boundaries with me, nothing’s changed since 2010!’

She added: ‘Well, everyone’s different. So, everyone heals differently. So, basically, your skin is kind of just put over an implant. So, it’s just there for show, basically.

‘But no, I’m alright. I’ve got another surgery in a couple of weeks. But I’m good, man. Perspective is key.’

Jessie returned to the stage on Saturday for her first live performance since undergoing a mastectomy following her breast cancer battle.

She opened her set at BBC Radio 2 In The Park in Chelmsford, Essex to a loud applause from fans.

Appearing emotional on stage, she told the packed crowd: ‘Some of you may know, some of you may not know, but I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today.

‘And the last show I did, I had no idea what was gonna happen, and I’m still very much in the recovery process, but I’m definitely not ready for Babins.

‘I mean, I am, but my doctors are like ‘calm down, girl’. Do you know what I mean, you can take the girl out of Essex, put her back in to Essex.

‘But I’m just so grateful to be here, you have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years. It truly feels like I’m a little kid. Still doing what I love.’

She added: ‘And another special thing that’s happening today is that my son is seeing me sing on stage for the first time.’

Sky, who is two years old, could be seen backstage wearing earmuffs as he waved at his mum on stage.

Jessie then moved onto her second song, her new track Living My Best Life, which she revealed was special to her.

She explained: ‘Some of you may know it, some of you may not know it, but what this song’s about, I was diagnosed literally two weeks before this song was released, and everyone said, ‘let’s stop, let’s just put everything on hold’ and I said, ‘that’s not what life’s about’.’

The mum-of-one continued: ‘Life is about standing in the storm but holding up your umbrella and just keep moving forward.

And music, I don’t know about you guys, but for me, music is a healer. Music is the thing that keeps me wanting to wake up in the morning and just makes me excited about life.

‘And I’m grateful that I can make music that can give other people something that they might need on a hard day or a good day.

‘So this song is called Living My Best Life, and that is what I’m doing every single damn day.

‘Cause we never know when our last day will be, so soak this up, hug the people you love hard.’
