At midnight, Jessica Simpson officially released her first song in 15 years, Use My Heart Against Me.
‘Go on / Use my heart against me / Double down like I’m your whisky,’ the 44-year-old former pop star sang with her three-octave soprano pipes.
‘Drink me in until your tipsy / One and done / On the run / Restless soul / Rattle the reverb / Holy Ghost of a believer / I’m the key and you’re the keeper / Here I come / Here I come / Don’t misuse / Don’t confuse / My love.’
Jessica’s three-minute comeback track ‘was inspired by the artists from the roots of rock ‘n’ roll like Betty James, Bo Diddley, and Chuck Berry to name a few.’
Simpson – who boasts 15.1M social media followers – went on to say that ‘music makes you un-become to become’ and her ‘soul has been pulled to the very place it belongs.’
‘To the girl I was, I love you. To the woman I am, I am proud of you. To the woman I am becoming, I am excited for you… let’s do this… it’s go time!’ the Jessica Simpson Collection CEO captioned her single announcement.

In the behind-the-scenes video of the recording process, Jessica could be seen being eccentric and goofing around like she did on her MTV reality show Newlyweds (2003-2005) with ex-husband Nick Lachey.
‘I love this mic! It’s so cute! I just want to lick it like a lollipop,’ Simpson said before repeatedly sticking her tongue out towards the microphone.
The platinum-blonde Texan – who released a cover of Nothing but Thieves’ Particles in 2021 – said Nashville has always been her place of self-discovery as far back as age 14 when she recorded a gospel record there.
‘It’s given me a way to connect my words to my actual voice and there’s a lot of beauty in that and there’s a lot of light in that,’ Jessica gushed.
‘The beauty of music [is] you’re always going to be discovering and that’s why artists want to keep writing and keep putting out music.’
Simpson – who celebrated seven years of sobriety on November 1 – ‘nervously’ mined material from her ‘plethora of journals’ including the title Use My Heart Against Me: ‘I had come in with that line.’
Use My Heart Against Me marks the first single on the Walmart collaborator’s upcoming EP – Nashville Canyon, Part 1 – which drops on March 21.
