Talking about her gentle parenting approach, she said: ‘Telling off back in our day is very different to what it is now.’ she said.
‘We’re not to say the word naughty. It’s all about saying kind hands and all these different phrases you have to learn.
‘He’s an extremely lively little boy, he’s not placid. He’s very determined and he’s got a lot of energy.
‘It does take it out of you and I have got some help with my family and my husband is very hands on.
‘He’s a character. He doesn’t stop laughing and dancing and singing and he wants to be involved with everything.’
The star added that she is constantly learning about the best way to raise her son now he’s entered the ‘terrible twos’.
She explained: ‘There are different stages when they hit two like the tantrums, the neediness, the whining so you get all of those things along with the good things.
‘You’re learning as well and seeing how to deal with these things.’
But despite Jess gushing over her only child, she confessed that she has struggled to stop herself form shouting at the toddler
Jess said: ‘They press your buttons every day and you have to stop yourself from getting angry and shouting and they’re so precious and little you don’t want to shout’
The explained that she and William are learning on the job and working together.
She said: ‘It’s a big change and we’re learning and teaching each other but he is a wonderful little boy and he’s going to make his mark on this world I’ve got a feeling.’
But despite Jess gushing over her only child, she confessed that she has struggled to stop herself form shouting at the toddler.
‘They press your buttons every day and you have to stop yourself from getting angry and shouting,’ she confessed.
‘And they’re so precious and little you don’t want to shout but you find yourself losing your temper sometimes – they press your buttons .’
The sister of Mark added that having Presley has taken its toll on her marriage and that the pair now bicker but are working on building in quality time together.
She said: ‘We end up snapping at each other because you’re both stressed and this little person is running rings round you.
‘It’s important to have time alone because otherwise you’re just mum and dad and have the odd date night which we haven’t done much until last week
‘It was just a whole different dynamic and we were talking to each other differently and it was natural because we haven’t got the stresses of the baby and nap times and feeding.
In August Jess announced her son, two and a half, was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart disease called ‘Bicuspid Aortic Valve’ in an emotional Instagram post
‘We haven’t got any planned in soon but we need to, it’s on the to-do list.’
And the star has certainly been under a strain recently.
Following her announcement in August that Presley had a life changing heart condition, Jess explained that he was being monitored by doctors but the toddler would need to have open-heart surgery at least twice in his life.
She said they had been trying to cope for the news for a few months and had been nervous about sharing it, but wanted to raise awareness and hear from other parents who have also gone through it ‘to know that we are not alone.’
Following her revelation, Jess said she has received a lot of support from everyone and revealed she has even had people come up to her in the supermarket.
She said: ‘I feel like now when people ask if we’re okay there’s that hidden undertone of “Oh gosh I heard the news” which is really sweet because we’ve had so much support.
‘I had someone come up to while I was shopping in Waitrose the other day and had someone come up to me and say “hows your little boy?” and I was like “that’s so kind”.
But Jess said she has found it all so overwhelming she has been left wondering if she might be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
She said: ‘It’s been very very overwhelming but we’re navigating this new normal.
‘But it was a shock, I think a shock is an understatement we’re definitely going to have PTSD from this.
‘It’s a form of trauma because you hear the news out of the blue and it’s completely life changing and my son is compromised which we didn’t expect, didn’t know anything about or have any warning signs.’
Now she is focused on making sure Presley is as safe as possible and said that she is working on cooking healthy meals for him and expanding her skills in the kitchen to cater for his dairy allergy.
And it’s not just in the home, Jess has partnered with The Blue Cross Code to inform drivers about road safety when it comes to pets and children.
The star explained she is already so stressed that when she goes for a walk with her beloved dogs and her little boy, she doesn’t want to have to worry about being extra vigilant on the road too.
She is encouraging drivers to be careful, especially as the nights get darker adding that she couldn’t bear to think of her son or pets being harmed.
