Back in January 2023, the Hawkeye alum spent more than two weeks in the hospital as he underwent multiple surgeries and recuperated from his injuries.
He broke over 30 bones when he was run over by a massive 14,000 pound snowplow near his home in Reno, Nevada in Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day.
He also sustained injuries resulting in a collapsed lung and pierced liver from a shattered rib.
Months later, the Hawkeye alum made his return to the red carpet in April alongside his 10-year-old daughter Ava — whom he credited as ‘reason number one’ for his recovery.
‘Everything kind of just went right,’ he said. ‘Obviously I had a lot of tenacity, I had a lot of support and a lot of reason to recover.
‘That is really special,’ he continued. ‘There’s a lot of people that don’t have as much — those things to live for.’

‘It wasn’t about me getting better,’ he explained. ‘It was about healing them. That’s how I got out of my own way.’
On ‘the love and support I got from people’, he said: ‘I just didn’t realize that many people gave a crap about me that much. Maybe Hawkeye, they did, [but] just me as a person, it’s a different thing, you know what I mean?’
