Jennifer Love Hewitt got candid about the challenges of ‘aging in Hollywood’ while opening up about the ‘crazy’ backlash to one of her since-deleted Instagram selfies, which she posted in August.
While discussing the hate she received over the picture, showcasing her dramatic new haircut, the 9-1-1 star, 44, recalled throwing on a beauty filter since she didn’t have ‘a stitch of makeup.’
‘It was just a filter that at the time, looked nice in the light at the salon,’ she told host Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast, Inside of You. ‘I really gave it no thought.’
To her dismay, Hewitt said ‘a bunch of people were like, ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable.”

‘And then another place was like, ‘She’s unrecognizable and so she’s gone to filters because she doesn’t want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s,’ the performer told listeners. ‘And I was like, ‘This is crazy right?”
To poke fun at critics, she posted more photos with ‘over-the-top, crazy,’ filters which only prompted more angry comments from trolls.
‘I was like, ‘All natural, no filter,’ like trying to make fun of it, and then they came after me for that and they were like, ‘Well, now she’s just defending herself,’ she said. ‘And I realized, I was like, ‘I can do no right.”
When asked why she pays attention to her people that ‘have nothing better to do than to put you down,’ the mom-of-three explained it would be ‘a lie’ to ‘pretend’ not to care.
‘You don’t want to care what people think about you, but you have to care what people think about you,’ she replied.
Hewitt also pointed that ‘the majority of people have been very kind to’ her.
‘They’ve grown up with me. They look like I do now… we’re all getting lines and maybe in menopause and who knows what else is coming for us,’ she continued.
The Criminal Minds actress went on to reflect that she accepts that she is 44 and this is what she looks like.

‘At 23, 24, 25, I didn’t feel self-confident,’ she admitted; seen in 2004, at age 25. ‘I was called sexy before I ever knew what being sexy was. Like, I was 17 years old on the on the cover of Maxim, and I had no idea why I was on the cover of Maxim’

As a teenager, the performer recalled being ‘so insecure and so confused and trying her best.’
Earlier this year, the star denied that she got a ‘brow-lifting procedure’ but stated she did microblade her eyebrows.

Back in October 2021, the Texas native took a two-week break from social media to ‘reset’ and make her ‘scrolling time’ more ‘active’ following the birth of her youngest child, Aidan.
‘Workouts, breathing, manifesting, time with my kids and husband. All of it,’ she said of what she planned for her time offline.
The performer continued: ‘And social media makes me feel bad sometimes. Like I’m not enough. Doing enough. Getting my body back fast enough. Giving enough. All of it. I only share this for that one person or maybe more today who need time.
‘Just for them. And need to know it’s okay to take it. And in fact the taking of that time will make everything better. I promise. Sending love!’ she concluded.
Jennifer added that her children agreed to ‘give up YouTube shows’ with her in solidarity: ‘So one small miracle already, LOL!’
Jennifer and her husband of seven years, Brian Hallisay, welcomed their third child on September 9, 2021.
Hewitt and Hallisay met on the set of NBC pilot Love Bites in 2011.
They reunited on screen again when he played her character Maddie’s Hallisay scored a role portraying Maddie’s abusive ex-husband Doug Kendall on the series, 911.
