Jennifer Lopez revealed she can ‘relate’ to her ‘very misunderstood’ character in her new film, Atlas, while attending its premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night.
While reflecting on playing Atlas Shepherd, ‘a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence’ in the film’s synopsis, the superstar, 54, admitted to seeing a lot of herself in the character amid split rumors with husband Ben Affleck.
‘We are so different because she doesn’t wear any of her emotions,’ the mother-of-two told People. ‘She’s so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes.’
She continued: ‘But at the same time we are both very strong and sure of what they feel.’

‘At times. She was very sure. She was like, “This is what’s happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.” And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit,’ the Let’s Get Loud hitmaker explained.
The actress, who has starred in romantic comedies like The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan, said, at times, she’s ‘very sure of what’ she wants, and, other times, she’s ‘very doubtful of’ herself.
‘I follow my instincts more than anything and I find that when I go against that, is when I go wrong,’ Lopez noted.
Lopez also admitted to infusing ‘a little bit’ of herself into the role.
The Grammy nominee’s husband, Ben Affleck, was a no-show at the premiere amid divorce rumors following reports they are living in separate homes.
A report surfaced on Monday from Page Six that claims Affleck has, ‘come to his senses,’ regarding his marriage to Lopez.
The source described the marriage as a ‘fever dream’ and he was so enamored with Lopez that he wasn’t thinking straight.
It was also claimed that he now ‘knows’ that he has to divorce her, though another report from People claims they will try to work things out.

The People report claimed that they do not see eye to eye in terms of how they’re seen in public, though the source thinks they’ll stay together because they have, ‘a great love story.’
‘They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention,’ said a source. ‘Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach.’
It was added it is just not ‘his way’ to share so much of his personal life.

Fans started to notice that something might be wrong with the power couple earlier this month when they had not been photographed together in almost two months.
But they had busy careers: he was filming The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles and she was working on co-chairing the Met Gala in New York City.
Headlines that they were on the rocks made the rounds.
But then suddenly she was seen smiling at her husband when his middle child, Fin, was giving a performance in her school play last week.
