Jennifer Hudson slammed for being a ‘garbage interviewer’ as awkward Kesha exchange leaves fans cringing

Jennifer Hudson was slammed for being a ‘garbage interviewer’ over her awkward exchange with Kesha on her talk show.

Since she launched her daytime series in 2022, Jennifer, 43, has repeatedly drawn brickbats for her stilted conversations with her celebrity guests.

She left fans scratching their heads at her cringe-inducing interviewing tactics yet again when she found herself face-to-face with Kesha this week.

Kesha excitedly shared that she had been an extra in Dreamgirls, the 2006 movie that catapulted Jennifer to stardom and won her an Academy Award.

After reacting with what seemed like exaggerated shock, Jennifer neglected to do anything to push the topic forward – not even asking what scene Kesha was in.

Fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to share their wincing reactions to the moment, calling Jennifer a ‘weird’ and ‘TURRIBLE interviewer’ and the show ‘unwatchable.’

On the show, Kesha said: ‘I was an extra on Dreamgirls,’ and Jennifer replied with extravagant theatricality: ‘What? Really?’

‘Serious, Bible,’ said Kesha, putting her hand up, before quipping that she was paid about $120, to which Jennifer threw her head back and said: ‘I love you.’

Kesha valiantly tried to keep the anecdote afloat, saying: ‘For 16 hours I sat there with my hair teased to the gods. Oh my God, I – no offense – I hated it.’

The TikTok hitmaker still received no help from Jennifer in keeping the conversation moving, so she lamely trailed off: ‘Y’all were amazing, we were just – an extra in a scene, it was a big auditorium, downtown LA.’

Viewers let out a collective groan at the toe-curling chat, with one tweeting: ‘I was talking about this to my friend last night! She p***ed me off so bad. Literally got nothing from the interview and I know Kesha was thinking this lady is weird asl.’

‘I respect jennifer hudson so much but she is the worst interviewer ive ever seen have a talk show…,’ wrote another: ‘and her spirit tunnel, egot, and production team are what keeps that show on air- not her actual talking on the show.’

‘How do you not ask what scene?!’ another exclaimed as still another marveled: ‘she’s such a garbage interviewer omg.’

‘You wouldn’t have even known JHUD was in the film based on this interview… oof!’ wrote on exasperated fan on social media.

‘YES! This is how all of her interviews go on this show,’ wrote another. ‘It’s completely unwatchable. It’s like watching NPC convos in a game.’

Dreamgirls was adapted from a 1981 Broadway musical of the same name, which itself was loosely inspired by the real story of The Supremes.

The 2006 movie featured a formidable cast including Beyoncé and Jamie Foxx, but it was Jennifer’s supporting performance that won the Academy Award.
