Jennifer Coolidge has candidly revealed why she had to stop partying.
The 63-year-old retired hellraiser – who shocked fans by revealing her ‘real voice’ earlier this year – recalled being ‘out of control’ as she partied in her 20s.
The White Lotus star told People magazine on Tuesday that she was living in New York City at the time as she said: ‘I got in a lot of trouble.
‘I was just partying in a way that was very extreme and not buckling down and trying to make anything really important happen, you know, getting a career going or anything. I was busy going to the Palladium and stuff like that.’
The Palladium was an iconic nightclub in New York City which was converted from a music venue by Studio 54 owners Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager and was a mainstay in the Big Apple club scene from 1985 to 1997.
Jennifer heartbreakingly explained: ‘I remember it was one of those things where I felt like… I was completely out of control and I couldn’t stop it.

‘I couldn’t stop the train.’
She said that those years not only had an effect on her life at the time but have also had a lasting impact on her personal and professional life.
Jennifer said: ‘Somehow I ended up with these roles that are kind of like that.
‘But I know the feeling so well: being on this weird train and incredibly vulnerable in my early 20s. You’re so vulnerable, and there’s all these kind of weirdos that come out of the woodwork and don’t have good intentions.
‘And so I feel like I just relived those days in these future jobs I got. How weird is that?’
Earlier this year the star sent her fans into meltdown after she revealed her real talking voice at the Golden Globes 2025.
The White Lotus star is known for her talking in a hilariously ditsy twang and has made a habit of putting on the voice for many of her acting appearances.
But fans across the world were left feeling ‘bamboozled’ after Jennifer was captured speaking in her normal tone during an interview on the red carpet.

In a mind-boggling clip, Jennifer was seen listening to comedian Matt Friend as he impersonated her sipping on a cold drink ahead of the grand ceremony.
And when she was eventually asked for her verdict, Jennifer said in her natural accent: ‘You were very good. You were right up there with Ariana’s [Grande].’
Staggered fans couldn’t believe what they were hearing and rushed to social media in shock.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one said: ‘Has my entire life been a lie?!’
Another penned: ‘I feel bamboozled.’
‘Why does he sound more like Jennifer Coolidge than Jennifer Coolidge?’ asked a third.

This isn’t the first time that fans have been left shocked after hearing a celebrity’s real voice.

That same month, Shaggy left many aghast when he used his real voice in an interview where he also admitted to playing up his Jamaican accent for his singing career.
The rapper (born Orville Richard Burrell) was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but moved to New York City with his mother when he turned 18.
He shared part of a new interview on his TikTok over the weekend, which surprised many fans who had never heard his ‘real’ voice before.
Shaggy also revealed the history behind his famous accent, which he developed to mock his drill instructors.
‘I got this voice by mocking drill instructors in the military. Because in the Marines, the drill instructors would go, “Yeah boy, drop and give me 20, let’s go,” he said, using the voice he’d use on hits like Boombastic.
