Jennifer Aniston Stuns Fans Claiming Her Family Was Poor Despite Father’s Soap Star Fame

Jennifer Aniston has stumped her fans during the star’s new interview with Elle Magazine‘s Women In Hollywood December 2025/January 2026 issue.

The 56-year-old actress claimed that her family ‘had no money’ when she was growing up even though her father was an actor on the popular soap opera Days Of Our Lives.

‘No money? Her dad was famous on TV, I don’t get it,’ said one fan on X while another added, ‘She must mean her parents were only millionaires and not billionaires.’

The subject came up when the bubbly blonde Emmy winner was asked which character she is most like in real life.

Aniston answered: ‘I would probably say Rachel, except my family had no money growing up, and she did.’ Rachel is the Friends character Rachel Green who came from a wealthy East Coast family.

The Hollywood icon’s father was John Aniston who also worked on the hit shows Search For Tomorrow and Love Of Life. Soap stars usually earn about $1 million a year from their work if they are a regular on a show. He passed away in 2022.

The star’s mother Nancy Dow was an actress who appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies, The Wild Wild West and Mr. Terrific. She died in 2016.

And the ex of Brad Pitt added that there is another more recent character she wishes she was more like.

‘I want to be like Alex [Levy, her character on The Morning Show]. I love her! Not that I want to be a mean, badass b***h, but there’s something about it. It’s fun to yell and tell someone off,’ said the Los Angeles resident.

The star also talked big fame: ‘The best part about being a woman in Hollywood is that I’m a working woman in Hollywood, and that I get to continue doing what I love. I’ve worked really hard and I love what I do.

She also enjoys creating projects that are ‘making a difference and bring in female voices.’

The Hollywood icon added, ‘That’s a really wonderful thing that we get to do now that we’re allowed a seat at the table.’

And then Aniston talked about the lows of working in Hollywood.

‘There was a period where we were not allowed at that table. It was thought, “How adorable that you think you could be a producer or run a production company.” It was a very male-dominated industry, and we still have a long way to go, but women in Hollywood make moves. We get s*** done.’

She also talked about the two year anniversary of the death of her former Friends cast mate Matthew Perry.

‘It was so alarming and shocking, yet not shocking,’ offered the star.

‘[The _Friends _cast and I] always said, “I hope I never get that phone call.” We miss him. He’s missed.’

She then noted: ‘He was a brilliant human being and an extraordinary talent, loved deeply, and wanted happiness more than anything. It makes me sad that he never really achieved that, because he deserved it.’

Aniston was photographed by Zoey Grossman and interviewed by Claire Stern Milch.

The 2025 Women In Hollywood honorees – who also include Emily Blunt – graced the December 2025/January 2026 covers of ELLE, on newsstands December 2, 2025 and live now on Elle.com.
