Jenna Dewan has discussed her recovery from welcoming her third child and the pressure for women to ‘snap back’ after birth.
The Step Up star, 43, who recently settled her divorce from ex Channing Tatum six years after their separation, gave birth to daughter Rhiannon in June – her second child with fiance Steve Kazee after welcoming Callum, now four.
The star said she had noticed a longer recovery time after undergoing her third C-section delivery – and revealed she had to tone down her dancer’s instinct to exercise to give her body time to recover.
She told TooFab: ‘I would say post third baby … I’ve had three C-sections and the third C-section with Rhiannon, I was down and out for a little bit longer than I was the other two, mostly because it was a third and, you know, there [are] two other kids and my body needed a little bit more time to heal.’
Discussing the pressure to lose baby weight quickly, she said: ‘I do think it’s prevalent for all women. You don’t even realize it, but it’s a subconscious thing that happens when people go, ‘Oh, you look amazing. I can’t believe you just had a baby. You had a baby three months ago? That’s crazy!’

‘It’s this interesting thing I have noticed, and I don’t love it because I don’t want that to be the focus ever. In particular with me, I had a massive surgery. I had a C-section. So you do need to recuperate and rest and allow yourself time. And I think the quicker you can sort of block out and tune out those comments and just know, you know, you’re on your own schedule.’
Jenna said she was ‘excited to move again’ and to feel ‘stronger’ but that it wasn’t a priority for her as she cares for her newborn.
She said: ‘As a dancer, I’m so used to being in my body and using my body. I’ve had to learn how to rest and recuperate. It’s almost like a skill. I had to learn how to rest and recuperate.
This comes after Jenna and Channing’s contentious court battle over the Magic Mike franchise finally ended as the former couple came to an agreement and settled their divorce.
Talks between the exes stalled for years as the former spouses fought over the intellectual property and the distribution of money Tatum earns from the successful movie franchise.
Although details of the settlement are not public, the pair signed a binding judgement this week that conclusively resolves the dispute.
That means the trial showdown between the battling exes that was scheduled for December is now off.
If Tatum or Dewan have any future disagreements over custody, they have agreed to work it out privately with a judge, according to court records submitted to an LA judge.

Both also mutually agreed to waive spousal support from one another.
Dewan and Tatum married after meeting while on set of the 2006 film Step Up.
They announced their split in a joint social media statement in 2018, saying there were ‘no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision.’
‘Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now,’ the exes said in the statement.
While the pair officially became single on November 2019, their divorce proceedings stalled over Tatum’s lucrative Magic Mike deals spawned from the 2012 motion picture hit.
The Hartford, Connecticut born actress maintained the money used during their 10-year marriage financed the Magic Mike franchise, which includes two sequels, a reality TV show on HBO called Finding Magic Mike and a live Las Vegas show.
The former Step It Up co-stars share a daughter, 11-year old Everly, who they have 50/50 custody, which both agreed to back in February 2020.
