Jelly Roll Overwhelmed with Emotion Upon Receiving Two Grammy Nominations: ‘I Haven’t Cried Like This Since Losing My Father’

Jelly Roll broke down in tears after being nominated for two Grammy Awards in a video that was shared on his Instagram account on Friday.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that the 38-year-old performer was put up for the awards for Best New Artist and for Best Country Duo/Group Performance by the Recording Academy.

The hitmaker, who was recently accompanied by his wife Bunnie XO during the CMA Awards, went on to share a video in an effort to express his gratitude for the nominations.

Jelly Roll, born Jason Bradley DeFord, began his emotional video by stating that he was honored to have been put up for the Grammy Awards.

‘The greatest honor an artist can ever hear is that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy. I got to hear that this morning,’ he said.

The Son Of A Sinner singer did not hold back his tears in the clip, during which he stated that he had made multiple attempts to express his feelings earlier in the day.

He said: ‘I haven’t cried like this since my daddy died. I tried to make this video seven times, y’all.’

Jelly Roll concluded his video by thanking his fans for their continued support, stating: ‘I love y’all, man. So f***king much.’

The CMT Award-winning artist also shared a message in his post’s caption to state that he would share more of his feelings about the nominations in the near future.

‘I’m embarrassed to post this but my wife says honesty and rawness got me this far…I’ll post a more complete thought about this when I get my head together,’ he wrote.

Jelly Roll also remarked that he ‘just never would’ve imagined’ that he would be put up for multiple Grammy Awards.

The nomination for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award was for the remix of his song Save Me, on which he collaborated with Lainey Wilson.

Performers such as Ice Spice, Gracie Abrams and Noah Kahan have all been put up for the Best New Artist Award.
