Tennis legend turned television star Jelena Dokic has revealed she’s ‘the happiest’ she’s ever been – and even teased that wedding bells could be on the horizon.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail at Channel Nine’s 2026 Upfronts in Sydney, the 42-year-old looked radiant as she reflected on her journey of self-discovery and hinted at what’s next in her personal and professional life.
The former world No.4 said she’s in a great place both emotionally and professionally after years of hard work, healing and personal growth.
‘I am the happiest I’ve ever been professionally and personally as well,’ Jelena said. ‘It’s been a really nice transition, especially for someone that didn’t really feel comfortable doing that.’
When asked about the possibility of marriage with boyfriend Yane Veselinov, Jelena laughed but didn’t rule it out entirely.
‘Oh no,’ she said with a smile. ‘I’ll let you know in time, but no [not right now].’

Jelena, who has become one of Australia’s most beloved sports commentators, said sharing her story publicly was a major turning point in her journey towards confidence and fulfilment.
‘I told my story publicly in order to be able to help other people and to give them a voice as well,’ she said.
‘It turned into such a massive, rewarding cause. I’m so passionate about that – and through that healing and confidence, I’ve been able to do other things like speaking and TV. It’s been incredible and I’m so grateful.’
It’s been a landmark year for the tennis great, who took home a TV Week Logie Award earlier this year.
‘I genuinely didn’t think it was even near possible to win,’ Jelena said of her big night. ‘Just to even be there and to be nominated was extremely special – and to be nominated with Todd (Woodbridge), a great mentor and friend. Then we both ended up winning, which was so special.’
Off-screen, Jelena has found happiness in her personal life too, going public earlier this year with her new partner Yane Veselinov, a hospitality operations manager.
The pair confirmed their romance in July 2025 when Jelena shared a heartfelt Instagram post saying, ‘You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you.’
The couple have since kept their relationship relatively private, with Jelena explaining that after decades in the public eye, she’s determined to protect their happiness.
‘I’ve been in the spotlight since I was very young,’ she told 9Honey earlier this year. ‘It’s important that my partner feels comfortable.’

Before finding love again, Jelena was in a long-term relationship with Tin Bikic, which ended after nearly 19 years together in 2021.
Now, with her career and personal life thriving, Jelena says she’s ready for a new chapter.
‘There’s always something new, but I’m really looking forward to finishing this year off strongly,’ she revealed.
‘Some exciting things for the Australian Open and, yeah, some of my own personal goals for next year, including a new book.’
With her trademark positivity and resilience, Jelena says she’s ready for whatever the future brings – on and off the court.
‘The summer of tennis is just around the corner,’ she added. ‘It starts now in just over two months, and I’m really looking forward to it.’
