Jelena Dokic has reflected on the bullying she has received over the years regarding her weight.
The tennis champion took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a snap comparing the way she looked at the Australian Open in January 2024 to the way she looks now, revealing that she was ‘a winner, worthy and enough in both’.Â
‘I am not and don’t want to be known as the “skinny” or “fat” girl and woman or even something in between,’ the 42-year-old began the post.
‘I am and want to be known as the girl and woman who stood up.’
‘Stood up for herself and others and stood up against body shaming, bullying and trolling for my body and size.
‘Someone who has fought for herself and others on the most critical stage, the world public and media stage.’

The broadcaster went on to iterate that size had never defined her, despite others wanting it to, and that no matter her weight, she was and is strong, resilient, happy ‘and most importantly kind and a good person’.
‘I have always gone out there in front of the whole world no matter the size. At size 22 and at size 4 and stood proud at both sizes and everything in between,’ she added.
Jelena then encouraged her fans to stand up for themselves and not let their size determine their value.Â
‘Never allow anyone to dictate your happiness, confidence, voice, worth or capabilities,’ she said.Â
‘Fight for yourself, speak up and use your voice even when it shakes. And remember you are enough and worthy, always. No matter the size or what is on the outside.’
She finished off the inspirational post, writing: ‘What is on the inside is what really matters. Be kind, be good and never allow anyone to put you down and that includes your body.’Â

‘Three different decades, three different sizes, three different stages of life, three different ages and three different periods of life with very different careers,’ she wrote alongside images of herself in her 20s, 30s and 40s.
Jelena revealed she had been a size 4 in her 20s, a size 22 in her 30s and was now a size 10 at age 42.
‘Someone will always have something to say or criticise. Too big, too small, too strong, too weak, not good enough, too successful. Always something,’ she wrote.
‘The only person you need to make happy is yourself. So focus on you. You are worthy and you are enough.’
She added: ‘I have done it all in the public eye at all different stages of my life, different careers, different industries, at different sizes and with social media, the internet and the media. Always held my head high no matter the comments and always will. Because I know who I am.
‘Never allow anyone’s negative, mean and ignorant opinions and words to affect you. Be your own biggest cheerleader.’
