‘And I remember thinking to myself ”oh s**t my mum is in the car waiting for me outside” and I did not want to scare her, I did not want to alarm her.

‘So after five minutes of lying on the ground I got myself together and walked to the car holding my neck.

‘And I’m like ”mum I think I hurt myself a little bit inside we should probably go to the hospital just to check it out”. Every single bump felt like hell on earth.

‘I’m just dying in that passenger seat but I didn’t want to let her know that.

‘We get to the hospital and they all these X-rays and doctor was like ”I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you have a hangman’s break which is the same break that happens when you get hung and you are still alive.”

‘This could have ended up way crazier. I could have ended up paralysed or worst. And he was like ”that is the good news that you are still here with us and you can move all your limbs. The bad news is that you are going to be out (recovering) for seven months”.’

Jason, who was 22 at the time, revealed that one of the biggest challenges he had after his near-fatal accident was ‘losing all control’.

He explained he had to cancel his tour, was put on seven months recovery with a neck brace and could not do basic tasks such as tie his shoes or shower alone.
