In 2021, Janette became the new host of spin-off series It Takes Two - however she and fellow presenter Fleur East have reportedly been axed

Insiders previously said bosses are plotting a major revamp of the BBC2 weeknight show in the wake of a string of scandals that have rocked the franchise.

'Fans will be stunned that this bloodbath is continuing, but bosses are determined to overhaul the show completely,' an industry source told The Sun.

'Nobody feels safe right now and there's a real drive behind the scenes to  in a fresh era after all the recent drama.

'But the priority is a clean slate by September and putting distance between the show and the controversies of recent years.'

The telly source added actions taken by BBC bosses do not mean Janette and Fleur 'are out of the picture entirely' and that there could be other roles for them 'elsewhere'.

Daily Mail has contacted representatives of Fleur, Janette and the BBC for comment.

Five professional dancers - Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, Nadiya Bychkova, Michelle Tsiakkas and Luba Mushtuk have also been let go from the programme.

Speaking to The Sun, current pro Vito Coppola addressed the multiple exits and issued some advice to his former colleagues.

He said: 'In the dancing world, there is this rule that I have personally learnt 'never to be too happy or too sad when something happens'.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
