has revealed he was 'terrified' and felt powerless when wife was rushed for an emergency C-section after their son's arm was through the cervix.
The former Come Dancing star, 37, told the Daily Mail he could never have anticipated the sudden complications during Sophie's labour, describing it as 'the scariest thing I've ever been through.'
Sophie, 31, who gave birth at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, where welcomed her children, admitted she was 'really scared' as it wasn't the birth she had planned, but said she is grateful their son Ziggy arrived safely.
Speaking exclusively, Jamie said: 'From my point of view, it was the scariest thing I have ever been through in my entire life. Watching your wife go through that, the person you love, and this baby, and you have no control. It was the most terrifying thing ever. Nothing can prepare you for that.'
'The complications were really scary', Sophie added. 'Obviously, it wasn't the birth I planned or necessarily wanted, it was scary, but birth is different for every woman and however you do it is incredible and he's here and he's healthy and they were incredible.'
Former couple Jamie and Sophie, who met on the E4 series in 2017, filmed their son Ziggy's birth for their new three-part Disney+ show, Raising Chelsea, which follows their pregnancy journey as first-time parents.

But capturing the most important moment of their lives for TV wasn't an easy decision or preplanned. Sophie explained she had wanted to keep it private, until the emotional footage - shot by their anaesthetist - convinced her to change her mind.
Sophie said: 'I'll be honest, I said, I'm really sorry guys, I really don't want the birth to be filmed, I really need that moment to be a private moment.
'And what happened was there were complications, and I ended up having an emergency C-section. The anaesthetist took our phone to take photos and filmed the entire thing… we didn't even know, we had no idea.
'The next day, I was looking at all the photos of the birth, and I was like, oh my God, there's an 11-minute-long video. I pressed play, and it was so emotional.'
Jamie, who admits he enjoys being followed by cameras and believes storytelling lies at the heart of everything he does, confessed that even he was surprised by how in love he and Sophie appeared in the raw footage.
He said: 'It was the most amazing, romantic, and what's incredible about that moment, Sophie and I didn't know it was being filmed because it was supposed to be for our own personal use, but watching it I was like, oh my God, Soph, look how in love we are, you're seeing it from an outside perspective.
'And Soph, after thinking about it for a long time, said I think we should put that in because it'll be amazing to see. That was a very scary moment because the birth - I now salute all women, I walk down the street and if I see a woman with a pram I'm like, you hero. It's unbelievable.'
The couple promises their three-part series offers a no-holds-barred account of their lives, documenting not only Sophie's pregnancy but also their move from an apartment on London's Portobello Road to their newly renovated family home.

Given her vulnerable position as an expectant mother, being filmed around the clock was difficult for Sophie, who admitted that more than ever in her life, she longed for privacy.
She said: 'It was very unknown, we went from Made In Chelsea and then we did the podcast, it was two and a half hours a week being recorded and then it went out, but this was really different.
'This is them in our bedroom, this is them at our scans, watching the birth... it's so different, I was nervous.
'It was hard for me at first. I have never craved privacy more than I did when I was pregnant which was really crazy because then I was filming a TV show.
'It was strange at first because I was anxious, it was my first time, I felt really nervous about lots of different things but looking back, I'm really glad we did do that because we have captured it all and now I'm past it it's so nice to look back on.'
In keeping with their promise to showcase their authentic lives, Jamie and Sophie are filmed arguing - and it's not just a one-off.
Sophie grows frustrated with Jamie for not spending enough quality time with her away from his phone, fearing he prioritised running his two businesses, including confectionery brand Candy Kittens, over supporting her.
Jamie, whose mother Penny compares him to Peter Pan and Willy Wonka, tried and failed to win Sophie back with an over-the-top gesture that spectacularly backfired.
With emotions and hormones running high, Sophie also broke down over fears that stomach cramps could signal something serious, as the couple rushed for an emergency check-up.
Sophie said: 'The arguments... I didn't expect them to be kept in; I was like surely, we're going to ask them to be cut out.
'That was really hard and the moments where I was nervous with the baby and the movements, I was trying to hold it in, but that's the reality and that's what happened.
'It was hard feeling that vulnerable with cameras but as time went on, the team and the production behind it were so amazing, they became family to us and by the end of it, I didn't even realise they were there.'
The couple held a premiere to launch Raising Chelsea last Thursday, but Jamie's former best friend, Spencer Matthews, was notably absent
Jamie and Sophie celebrated the launch of Raising Chelsea, available to stream from April 2, last Thursday evening at Battersea Power Station's luxury cinema, surrounded by close friends and family.
Their former Made In Chelsea co-stars, including Oliver Proudlock and Sam Thompson, who, in fact, used to date Sophie before her relationship with Jamie, were in attendance.
But one couple was noticeably absent from the celebrations: Jamie's former best friend Spencer Matthews and his wife Vogue Williams.
Spencer had fallen out with Jamie after he wasn't invited to the couple's London legal wedding ceremony ahead of their big day in 2023. Although the pair had confronted their issues on the Great Company podcast, it was assumed any bad blood had been resolved.
Despite this, the couple's absence was felt. Jamie and Sophie also didn't mention Spencer and Vogue when asked about celebrity friends who have offered parenting advice despite Spencer being a father of three young children.
Jamie said: 'Jamie Oliver and his wife have been so lovely. It's funny, all of the parents, Davina McCall and Fearne Cotton, Jessie J and Tom Davis, they've all been just really, really lovely and kind. I mean, so many people have reached out.
'Alex Jones was very lovely, she sent me a message just saying, 'God, I'm just so happy for you.' Lots of people have been super lovely.'
Indeed, Jamie has built up a large celebrity fanbase over the years, thanks to his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 as well as hosting Radio 1's Going Home show.
His popularity soared further when he completed a grueling 150-mile ultra-marathon challenge for Comic Relief in March 2025, running from London to Salford in five days. Covering more than 50km (over 30 miles) each day, he raised over £2 million to support mental health, loneliness, and anxiety initiatives, having spoken openly about his own struggles over the years.
In the days that followed - after Sophie supported him from the sidelines - the couple jetted off on an idyllic holiday, where their son was conceived at luxury resort Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman.
Jamie said: 'Ziggy's name is where we conceived him. We conceived him in a place called Zighy Bay. I was depleted of any energy, and Sophie thought this was my chance and so it happened, so it was either going to be that or Watford. Watford or Ziggy and we chose Ziggy.'
Sophie joked: 'Straight after Jamie's ultramarathon - we went to Zighy Bay. I got him when he was vulnerable.'
