EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick appears to have confirmed his exit from the BBC soap.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the actor shared a throwback snap of himself as Jay and paid tribute to his character.
He penned: ‘Rip Jay… gonna miss you lad we had a laugh didn’t we,’ with the song Time to Say Goodbye playing in the background.
Jamie’s character Jay turned to drugs as he continues to struggle dealing with the death of wife Lola.
Jay has been grieving since his partner Lola (Danielle Harold) passed away from a terminal brain tumour in heartbreaking scenes.

And during the latest episode, viewers watched as Jay fled Albert Square and headed to Margate after taking street drug ketamine.
It was later revealed that Jay had been involved in a serious accident, with the episode having ended on a dramatic cliffhanger.
The news of Jay’s accident has rocked family members Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay).
It is unclear as to whether or not Jamie has revealed a huge spoiler or was messing with his followers – with Jay’s fate still completely unknown.
It comes after Jay got arrested for possession of drugs during Tuesday night’s episode, as he continues to struggle dealing with the death of wife Lola.
To deal with the pain of Lola passing away, Jay began paying sex worker Nadine, who looks identical to Lola, to let him sleep by her side.
In new scenes, Jay was able to stay in his own bed after taking party drug ketamine, with Ben and Callum commenting on how good it is to have him home for Lexi.
However, Jay was later caught by Callum leaving Nadine’s flat, and to make matters worse, the drugs fell out of his pocket.
Becoming worried about Jay, Callum rang the drugs unit at the police station with the intention of having Nadine arrested.
On the street outside, after Nadine handed Jay another bag of the drugs, she spotted the police and ran away.
When the officers approached, Jay was searched and the drugs were found, meaning he’ll be spending the night in a cell instead of Nadine.
Widowed Jay is set to start taking the lethal party drug in the coming weeks as his life continues to spiral out of control.
It comes as last week BBC viewers saw him spend time with a Lola look-alike sex worker.

A source told The Sun: ‘It’s a controversial story-line, bringing ketamine into millions of homes up and down the country.
‘But the important messages here involving the dangers of hard drugs. Dabbling with ketamine proves a serious wake-up call to Jay. Viewers will be on the edge their seats.’
It comes after EastEnders fans were left in shock last week when they spotted a ‘Lola clone’ on the show.
Lola Pearce died from a brain tumour in May in scenes that left viewers in tears and earned actress Danielle Harold Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs .
So viewers were left doing a double take in the episode when newcomer Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix) made her soap debut bearing a striking resemblance to Lola.
Nadine copied Lola’s signature look with her bleach blonde hair and huge silver hooped earrings, even mimicking one of Lola’s past outfits.
Her arrival came as a surprise to Lola’s widower Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) who has been struggling with his grief.
While the pair initially bonded, he was seen abruptly fleeing after learning that Nadine is working as an escort to support herself during university.
Nadine tried and seduced Jay as he continued to battle with his feelings of grief and loneliness.
Yet fans have been left wary of Nadine’s sudden appearance and striking resemblance to Lola as well as the fact she emerged shortly after Lola’s mother Emma ( Patsy Kensit ) returned to the Square.
Viewers theorised that she could be Emma’s secret daughter, which would explain her resemblance to the late hairdresser.
