James Corden’s sister Ruth says she ‘ballooned to a size 28’ before embarking on incredible 9st weight loss with Ozempic as she shares photo a from her ‘biggest’

James Corden’s sister Ruth has candidly shared a photo from when she ‘ballooned to a size 28’ before embarking on her incredible weight loss transformation.

Ruth, 43, left her followers in awe last month when she revealed her dramatic nine-stone drop after taking Ozempic.

She has now detailed her journey, admitting that she ‘lost control over her eating and lifestyle’ before deciding to take charge two years ago.

Speaking in a clip, shared to her Instagram, Ruth said she began the journey herself before seeking help from Dr Sophia Khalique in London.

She explained: ‘I got to my biggest two years ago. I was a dress size 28. I was ballooning by the second.

‘I didn’t have any control over my eating or my lifestyle. Bizarrely in February 2024 I just decided to lose weight.’

Ruth continued: ‘A lot of people ask me, “what was the catalyst?” and I honestly can’t tell you. I was having some problems with my blood pressure, so maybe there was some subconscious fear around that.’

‘I embarked on eating less in February 2024 and committed to doing ten minutes of exercise a day.’

For those of us that are fat, or live in bigger bodies, I am going to use the language fat in this, because that’s what I’m comfortable with.’

‘Being fat, going to see medical professional is something that became very frightening actually.

‘A lot of the time when you go see a healthcare professional everything comes back to your weight.

‘I have a long-standing joke with my dad that I could go with Tonsillitis and the GP would tell me it’s because I’m fat. So, getting help and support from them around that wasn’t really on my radar.

‘I was just plugging away at it going about it myself. I bumped into Dr Sophia Khalique on a night out and spoke to her about my hormones and fertility struggles.’

Ruth explained how Dr Sophia spoke to her from a ‘human level’ while she supported her and come to the conclusion, after a number of tests, that Ozempic would be a good option for her.

Her overall health kick is continuing into 2026 as she revealed she’s taking part in 75 Hard – the challenge where you ditch alcohol and unhealthy foods whilst completing daily workouts for 75 days.

The civil servant and podcaster seems to be off to a flying start as she took to social media to share her New Year’s Day run.

Ruth documented herself getting ready for the workout as she put on her shoes, with the caption: ’75 hard has not left my head. Wasn’t gonna do this run…’

In another scene, she could be seen warming up with a brisk walk along with the words on screen: ‘But. I put on my shoes and did it.’

Red-faced after the workout, Ruth told her followers: ‘Never regret the run.’

Alongside the video, she said on Instagram: ‘Second workout of the day because I’m trying to do 75 Hard.

‘Who even am I? What counts as showing up for you right now?’

She was flooded with praise and support from followers for her impressive motivation, as one said: ‘Well done Ruth, can’t wait to see what you achieve in 2026’;

‘Well done!!! I went for a run today – I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk tomorrow’;

‘Well done. I felt amazing after my run today, so glad I did it’; ‘Getting out there is the hardest bit.’

Recently speaking about her weight loss, Ruth heartbreakingly said that the woman she used to be felt forced to be ‘dazzling, loud, magnetic, unforgettable’ simply to survive as the ‘fat’ person in the room.

Ruth – who lives in Buckinghamshire with husband Matthew – has spent the last year on Ozempic under the care of Harley Street’s Dr Sophia Khalique

She candidly said: ‘The girl on the left learned to walk into every room like she had to be dazzling, loud, magnetic, unforgettable, because being fat taught her that if she didn’t take control of the space, the space would take control of her.’

She continued: ‘She smiled. She entertained. She insisted she was “fine”. All the while, she was exhausted from performing just to feel safe.’

By contrast, Ruth said the woman she is today – pictured wearing a sparkling gold top and tailored trousers – is ‘softer, quieter, more herself’.

‘The girl on the right walks in as she is,’ she wrote. ‘And this kind of truth is the bravest thing I’ve ever worn, terrifying in its exposure, freeing in its weightlessness.’
