Jaime King Engaged After Losing Custody of Sons in Divorce

Jaime King is apparently ready to walk down the aisle all over again with a new man despite recently losing physical custody of her two sons following a two-year, acrimonious divorce battle with ex-husband Kyle Newman.

The 46-year-old Next Model reportedly got engaged to Family Office investor Austin Sosa after ‘staying with his parents’ when her landlord Sheila Irani locked her out of her LA home for failing to pay over $42K in back rent back in March.

‘She is very close with his family,’ a source told People on Tuesday.

The mag published a picture of Jaime rocking her new diamond sparkler following an appointment at Sally Hershberger Salon in West Hollywood on Monday.

Not much is known about Austin aside from his prior work for financial institutions like Citi, Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch but he might be LDS considering he attended Brigham Young University – according to his LinkedIn.

King has only tagged Sosa in one Instagram post from June 8 in which she thanked him along with four ‘family forever’ friends and wrote: ‘My God, I am the luckiest and most great mother ever.’

In March, an LA Superior Court judge granted Kyle sole physical custody of their two sons – James Knight, 11; and Leo Thames, turning 10 next week – while the Lights Out actress will continue to share legal custody.

Jaime’s supervised visitation entails seeing little James and Leo ‘three times a week in specific hour blocks’ because she failed to complete a six-month drug/alcohol program with weekly testing, aftercare, and a two-step program as well as a 26-week parenting program, individual counseling and conjoint counseling.

‘My duty as a mother is to protect my children. And that’s all that matters to me. This is scary,’ King lamented on the Whine Down podcast April 10.

‘I just didn’t know when I got married at a young age. I just didn’t know that the world works like this. I didn’t know that legal systems work like this. And not to sound like some kind of neophyte, but I thought that, you know, when you choose to love someone, then you love that person. You build a family with them, and, you trust them.’

The Nebraska-born blonde alleged that Newman – who called her a ‘chronic drug addict and alcoholic’ in legal docs – misrepresented the early part of their relationship in court in order to receive sole custody.

‘It’s terrifying, when to be able to be free means that you have to pay a very extreme price, and I’m not just talking about financially,’ Jaime continued.

‘It’s very upsetting, and I will do everything in my power to change this system, and it’s not a will. I’m going to. There’s no price to pay for freedom.’

The 49-year-old music video director claims he went broke supporting their sons on his own as she repeatedly failed to pay him the court-ordered $429/month in child support or $1K/month in spousal support.
