Jade Thirlwall’s Debut Album Launch Causes Traffic Chaos in Newcastle

Singer Jade has released her debut album and proved so popular that police were called to her impromptu gig on Thursday night as it caused traffic chaos.

The former Little Mix star, 32, who shot to fame on X Factor in 2011, held a surprise performance in Newcastle, at the iconic Angel of the North.

Despite giving fans just hours notice of the show, over 1,000 of her supporters flocked down to see her live.

Wearing a Newcastle United football jersey, Jade performed five tracks for fans inside a converted metal food truck that was located in a field just off a motorway.

Her proud mum Norma could also been seen attending the gig.

With public transport to the location limited, fans had parked their cars just off a slip road to a busy dual carriageway which created chaos for commuters.

Meanwhile, Jade recently revealed she faces a ‘daily battle’ not to turn to Ozempic after years of struggling with eating disorders.

Talking to The Guardian, she revealed: ‘I have a daily battle with myself not to go on Ozempic.

‘I don’t judge people that do, but because I have a history of eating disorders, I don’t know where taking something like that would end for me.’

She added that the trolling is a sad consequence of stepping into the spotlight as a solo star: ‘Little Mix fans were all about empowerment and celebrating your body however you look.

‘Now I’m in my 30s and the healthiest I’ve ever been, but every time I post a picture, there are comments saying, “She must be pregnant.”‘

She added: ‘The sad thing is that it’s usually women. But people are used to seeing me in a group environment five or 10 years ago when I was stick-thin because I was in my early 20s with an eating disorder.’

Jade’s former Little Mix band members Perrie Edwards, Jessy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have also paved solo careers for themselves.

Together, they all sold 75million records and topped charts worldwide, while also winning a Brit Award for Best British Group.
