Isla Fisher has appeared to take a lighthearted swipe at her ex in a new commercial for Air New Zealand.

The Australian actress, 48, ended her 14-year marriage to British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen earlier this year, announcing the split in April.

In the ad, Isla befriends a young girl on a plane trip, before being introduced to her father in the terminal.

‘Dad, I made a new friend. Can she come for a play date some time?’ the child is seen asking her handsome dad.

‘I’d love that,’ the dad says when he spots Isla approach, who then flirts back, ‘How about now?’

At the end of the advertisement, Isla is heard asking the girl if her dad is also ‘flying solo’ to which the child replies, ‘Uh-huh’.

The refence to ‘flying solo’ appears to be a cheeky nod to Isla’s new single status since her split.

Isla has been living it up after recently announcing the couple’s split.

In June, she looked in high spirits as she laughed and joked with hunky British actor Ben Barnes at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for day eight of Wimbledon.

The newly single star threw her head back and giggled during an animated conversation with The Chronicles of Narnia star, who sat in the row in front of her.

Isla and Sacha announced in April that they had quietly separated last year.

The couple announced the news by sharing a picture of themselves together wearing tennis gear and using the sport as a metaphor for the marriage.

Their statement read: ‘After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.

‘In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.

‘We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.’

The now estranged pair met at a party in Australia in 2002 before getting engaged in 2004.

Fisher, who compared meeting the actor to ‘winning the lottery’ converted to Judaism before they tied the knot in Paris, France, at a Jewish ceremony in March 2010.

Ten years later they moved to Sydney in December 2020 after splitting their time between the US and UK before later relocating to Western Australia.

Fisher, who was raised in Perth from the age of six, opened up about the move in 2021, telling Stellar magazine she feels safer in her native Australia.

‘I just feel so safe, I suppose the word is cozy, when I’m in Australia. It’s where I grew up,’ she said.

‘I’m the happiest when I’m home. I miss it when I’m not here. I don’t feel any pressure when I’m in Australia. I don’t have to say or do or be anything.

‘I mean, I don’t even have to wear shoes.’

There were also reports at the time that the political situation in the US was behind their relocation.

‘They didn’t want to raise their kids in Trump’s America,’ an insider told Sydney Morning Herald in January 2021.
