The federal agents investigating Matthew Perry’s death are ‘confident’ they will be able to charge the suspects involved in his fatal drug overdose.
On Friday, it was reported that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is planning to charge ‘multiple people’ with drug distribution resulting in death or great bodily injury.
For the first-degree felony charge, they could be facing a sentence of 20 years minimum in prison.
When the Friends star died at the age of 54 last year and the autopsy was later released, the LAPD began an investigation into the circumstances of his overdose.
The agents are reportedly probing and looking to charge more people than just drug dealers.

According to TMZ, the authorities are reportedly investigating doctors if they wrote prescriptions ‘deemed outside the scope of medical necessity’ as well as Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
Last month, an investigative source from law enforcement told People that any future action will ultimately be determined by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
TMZ also reported that the DEA agents tasked with investigating the ‘resulting in death’ charge are reportedly the same ones who apprehended the suspects and closed the case in Mac Miller’s 2018 fatal drug overdose.
A search warrant was executed on the actress — with whom Perry was reportedly ‘romantically involved’ with nearly two decades ago — after she was questioned ‘multiple times’ by the authorities over his fatal overdose, a source told the outlet.
Mueller was never arrested or handcuffed regarding the inquiries, and sources told InTouch she has been cooperating with the criminal investigation.
The outlet also reported that she was not at the sober living residence she was staying at when cops arrived with a search warrant in May but was ‘completely cooperative’ when she returned from being out exercising.
As for the warrant, authorities reportedly seized an iPhone and a laptop from her.
A source told the outlet that she remains ‘adamant she had nothing to do with’ Perry’s death although the actor’s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, said she believes Perry and Mueller may have ‘reconnected’ in his final years.

Edwards, 48, claimed that Perry and Mueller started dating after meeting in Alcoholics Anonymous nearly two decades ago, around the same time she had been dating him too, according to The US Sun.
‘They definitely did not first meet initially in rehab, we all met in AA in 2006,’ said Edwards, who later worked as Perry’s assistant in 2010 and 2011. ‘She and I were seeing him at the same time, there was no girlfriend and boyfriend relationship — we just dated.’
His manner of death was ruled to be accidental, and the autopsy report released in May showed the actor died from acute effects of ketamine.
Contributing factors were given as drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a prescription drug often used to treat those with opioid addiction.
It was later reported that at the time of his death, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy.
In December last year, a medical expert speculated to Page Six the actor had ‘likely’ obtained ketamine illegally for ‘recreational use,’ however.
Even though Perry was undergoing ketamine treatment for anxiety and depression at the time of his passing, his autopsy report noted ‘the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy.’

In collaboration with the DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspector, LAPD then started investigating where the ketamine came from that ‘ended up playing a part’ in the actor’s death.
At the time, TMZ reported that an ongoing investigation was looking to deduce where the actor — who spent years battling alcoholism and drug addiction — got the ketamine.
‘Law enforcement sources tell us there is an ongoing investigation into where Matthew got the ketamine that ended up playing a part in his death — and the main questions are who provided the drug, and under the circumstances,’ the outlet reported.
It was also previously revealed that the authorities had already talked to ‘some key people in Hollywood,’ who are ‘known to have a history of drug use or abuse,’ as they ‘could have information leading to the source,’ per the report.
