Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan split after clashing over his desire to have children – with insiders claiming that their 16-year age gap was a ‘major factor’ in the break down of their relationship.
News that the couple had officially parted ways broke on Monday, hours after Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa, 49, unfollowed the basketball player, 33, on Instagram and posted a cryptic message alluding to an ‘ex-partner.’
The estranged couple have yet to publicly confirm their split, but insiders have claimed their differing opinions on starting a family and a failure to align their visions for the future fueled the break down.
‘They were in love with each other, but once the honeymoon phase ended, they started to realize their priorities differed,’ an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

It was confirmed on Monday that the couple had officially parted ways after Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa, 49, unfollowed the basketball player, 33, on Instagram
‘Their age difference played a major factor in the split, and on top of the fact that Marcus wants to have kids while she wants to be more of a celebrity.
‘They both had different ideas of what their family was going to be like and that built lots of stress.
‘They are just on different roads, but they are both to blame for not being together – even though they are blaming each other for the demise.’
Addressing whether there’s a chance that Larsa and Marcus could reconcile, the source said: ‘Absolutely – but right now, it is very touch and go and they don’t see eye to eye about much.’
They added: ‘They need to get back to where they originally started with each other and then it could work, this could be a good test to be away.’
Larsa and Marcus unfollowed each other on Instagram and scrubbed all trace of one another from their individual profiles.
Larsa also asked fans in a poll: ‘Should your friends unfollow your ex?’
On Monday she also posted a cryptic message, which read: ‘The man you choose to be your partner affects everything in your life. Your mental health, your peace of mind, your love inside you, your happiness, how you get through tragedies, your successes, how your children will be raised and much more. Choose wisely.’

Larsa already has four children – sons Scotty Jr., 22, Preston, 21, and Justin, 18, and daughter Sophia, 14 – with her ex-husband Scottie Pippen, whose teammate was Marcus’ dad Michael Jordan in the 1990s.
Last year, the pair talked candidly about their opposing views on wanting to start a family together.
Speaking on their podcast Separation Anxiety, Larsa said: ‘I feel like I’m happy, because I have four kids, and I feel like you don’t have kids, so basically it’d be a question for you.
‘Because I’m really fulfilled with my four children.’
Marcus added: ‘I think that’s something that goes unsaid with dating, and when there’s an age gap.
‘Like if the man is older, he might have kids, if the woman is older, she might have kids.’
Referring to his sneaker store, he continued: ‘But for me, I’ve always viewed Trophy Room as my baby.
‘I always wanted to establish my own name, outside of being Michael Jordan’s son. So for me, Trophy Room gave me that opportunity as my business. So I’ve always nurtured it and treated it as my child.’
Marcus was seen Sunday on social media in a picture alongside his famed father, 60, who had previously publicly expressed disapproval of his son’s relationship

Larsa and Marcus went public with their romance in January 2022 after they were seen putting on a loved up display during a stroll on Miami Beach.
In July, Marcus’s famous father Michael, 60, expressed disapproval over his son’s relationship with the television personality.
When asked about the romance, the iconic NBA player initially laughed then said, ‘No.’
Larsa later admitted she felt embarrassed’ and ‘traumatized’ by Michael’s declaration.
‘Oh my God, I was traumatized. I kind of felt like it went everywhere and I was kind of like embarrassed,’ she said.
Marcus added: ‘At the root of it all obviously is my dad’s relationship with your ex-Scottie. Obviously, we never talk about that, and I don’t think my dad wanted to comment on that.
‘I think he said no just in a joking way, knowing how Jordan’s play around, and so I thought it was funny from the jump.’
Larsa and Scottie married in 1997, but split in 2018. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.
