Producer Julian Cress has confirmed the 20th season of The Block Australia will take place on Phillip Island.

The location for next season of the renovation show has been up in the air ever since producers were forced to pull the plug on their planned Daylesford renovations.

Now, the new luxury location has been locked in with next year’s contestants set to film at a resort on Phillip Island, reported TV Tonight.

‘The mayor of Phillip Island recently posted we were bringing the show down there. I’m as thrilled as he is,’ Julian told the online publication.

‘We obviously had our location previously lined up for Daylesford but that blew up. We were very, very lucky to be able to find a magnificent site in Phillip Island.’

He continued: ‘So far, from what I’ve seen, the feedback from the audience and the fans who’ve heard that we’re going there, they’re all thrilled to bits.’

Julian went on to say the location is particularly special to him as he spent many fond memories there while on holiday growing up, and he hopes fans will feel the same.

There was talk in September that The Block was set to film in Phillip Island after it was discovered Nine Network splashed millions on a resort there.

According to a report in the Herald Sun, a Channel Nine-owned company purchased Island Cove Villas for a whopping $9.5million.

The property is situated two and a half hours from Melbourne, and features nine homes, a communal pool, a BBQ pavilion, tennis court and a children’s playground.

It is just a short drive from the penguin parade on the Island, and is described as ‘breathtaking from the moment you arrive’.

A new batch of Blockheads will be tasked to transform the resort after plans for a season in Daylesford were scrapped.

The show had to pull the plug on the picturesque country town of Daylesford for its highly anticipated 20th season after production was driven out by locals.

‘We’ve had so many successful series in so many different locations, but we don’t go where we are not welcome,’ a production insider told Herald Sun.

‘Especially for the 20th series of The Block, which is so important.’
