Iconic Melbourne Nightclub with A-List Celeb History for Sale at $15 Million

Iconic Melbourne Nightclub with A-List Celeb History for Sale at Million

It’s where Snoop Dogg launched his sunglasses range in 2008 and where DJs Fatboy Slim and Fred Again have hosted some of their most iconic Aussie gigs.

Now, the Melbourne club is going on the market.

The home of the celebrity-favoured Melbourne nightlife spot Revolver Upstairs – lovingly known as Revs – is up for sale.

The heritage-listed Prahran building on Chapel Street where the club is situated was put on the market in October – and the owners are hoping to make eight figures.

The venue went to auction on Friday and received offers from $12 million to a whopping final bid of $15 million before being passed in for negotiations.

Originally built in 1914, the property has been described as ‘prime land’ with ‘incredible future upside potential’, boasting a 1287sq m floor plan, according to realestate.com.au.

However, the auction has Revs diehards concerned that the new owners may not intend to keep the beloved drinking hole running.

Revs is one of the only nightlife spots in Victoria that is open 24 hours and has seen some famous faces through its doors since opening in 1997.

The Melbourne haunt has hosted performances by The Avalanches, Aloe Blacc and Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell.

It has also welcomed the likes of former couple Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness for a drink, cementing its iconic status in the Melbourne nightlife scene.

You may also have heard of the nightclub after it made front page news in 2024 when a 31-year-old man was left in a coma following a stabbing on the dance floor.

Revs is just one of the 30 beloved tenancies of the Prahran building, with the likes of Colonel Tan’s Thai restaurant among them.

What’s more, there is also a spacious loft situated above the nightclub boasting 9m-high ceilings and a spectacular view, which has been called home by Revs’ co-founder Tan Punturaumporn for the last few years.

However, the pop star and businessman has since returned to Thailand, which is why the owners have listed the property.

Fred Again left his fans completely shocked when he took to the stage for a surprise show at Revolver Upstairs in March last year.

The record producer jetted Down Under for his sold-out tour, but also gave lucky fans who might not have nabbed the sought-after tickets a chance to see him live.

At the time, Fred took to his Instagram Stories at 7am to share a video of himself roaming the streets as he commented that there was ‘not a lot open’ in Melbourne.

However, he teased that he had found ‘one place’ that was open before confirming that he was putting on a 9am set at the 24-hour nightclub.

His fans descended on the venue for his surprise performance and eagerly danced along to his epic setlist.
