Hugh Jackman has backtracked on saying he would never reprise the role of Wolverine, after his latest appearance as the superhero made £1Billion at the box office.
The actor, 57, who has played the character in ten movies, most recently in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, admitted despite previously ruling out a return he was now open to wearing the iconic claws once more.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton show, which airs on Friday, Hugh said about a return: ‘Maybe. I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again. I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years’.
Before jokingly adding: ‘I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!’.
Last year Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which also starred Ryan Reynolds, become the highest-grossing R-rated film ever as it raked in a £1Billion worldwide.
The actor previously declared back in 2015 that he was done with role after the character was killed off in 2017’s Logan, before reprising the role seven years later.

Hugh first played Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men, a film that launched his illustrious career in the United States.
His run as the popular mutant has resulted in one of the most lucrative film franchises of all time – the combined box office of the X-Men flicks he’s fronted is £2.69Billion.
Hugh was joined on the show by his Song Sung Blue co-star Kate Hudson, 46, and the pair chatted about their roles playing a Neil Diamond tribute act.
Praising his co-star, Hugh said: ‘Whatever expectations I had of Kate, she came in and blew straight past them. She is a force of nature and honestly it is one of the best performances you will ever see. She is extraordinary’.
Meanwhile Kate revealed her Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, were left in tears after watching the film: ‘They were a mess. Hugh and I were also a mess when we saw it for the first time, which is really rare. It is such an intense love story.’
The pair were joined on the sofa by fellow actors Ben Stiller, 59, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, 39, while sombr performed live in the studio.
Hugh and new girlfriend Sutton Foster made their red carpet debut as a couple late last month at the premiere of his Song Sung Blue during the 2025 AFI Fest in Hollywood.
The pair held big smiles on their faces as they posed for a brief photo session together and sweetly wrapped their arms around each other.

A few days before, Hugh and Sutton also attended Richard Marx’s After Hours Confessions event in NYC. They also made an appearance at the Fetch Pet Gala in the Big Apple last month.
At the time, a source told the Daily Mail: ‘Press and photographers were patiently waiting for Hugh and Sutton to make their big debut on the red carpet, but unfortunately, plans had changed last minute.
‘A lot of people who were made aware of their debut as a couple were left confused by why they had changed their minds.’
Sutton stepped onto the red carpet and was ‘glowing and in good spirits’ after arriving solo to the festivities, with Hugh making his own separate arrival later.
‘You can tell she was a bit overwhelmed by all the photographers that it might have been the reason why she did not do any interviews and did not bring Hugh to the carpet,’ the insider explained.
‘Hugh had snuck inside following the cocktail hour and was seated next to Sutton during the dinner portion of the evening. He was there to support her.’
Before striking up a romance, both Hugh and Sutton had been friends for many years – with their relationship confirmed in January of this year.
