Britney Spears was deliberately trying to raise eyebrows when she claimed she had just turned ‘five years old,’ according to sources, who insist the ‘incredibly savvy’ singer is playing with the public in order to ‘keep everyone talking’ about her.

The pop superstar, 43, has prompted questions about her wellbeing in recent years with her quirky dance videos and bizarre online antics.

This week she told fans in an Instagram video: ‘It’s my birthday. I’m not turning 42 this year, I’m turning five years old, and I have to go to kindergarten tomorrow.’

The next day, she announced plans to leave Los Angeles for a permanent move to Mexico, where she celebrated her birthday, in yet another scantily-clad dance video.

Despite the concern from fans, sources are claiming her outlandish comments and actions are a calculated move as she is ‘addicted to fame.’

Having recently made millions from her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me, the singer has signed off on a big budget Hollywood movie to be made about her life story.

The Crossroads star is set to launch a new jewelry line, B Tiny, and still sells merchandise to fans on her official store.

The source added: ‘With her new jewelry line coming out, the biopic in the works and the recently launched Britney Spears Merch site, she is keeping herself trending and this will be money in her pocket.’

Further insisting that the star is fully in control of the online narrative around her behavior, the insider dished: ‘She is sane, incredibly savvy and has so much free time on her hands.

Her latest posts come days after DailyMail.com revealed that Britney is sober and is firmly in control of her finances.

She is said to have sworn off ‘toxic’ men, having cut contact with convicted felon love, Paul Richard Soliz, and vowed to remain single. 

She also became legally single on her birthday, seven months after finalizing her divorce from Sam Asghari.

The singer signed an estimated $15 million deal in 2022, and her book was published the following fall – going on to sell over three million copies worldwide.

‘When she wrote [the memoir] she felt defeated, and she needed to make some quick cash. She never imagined that this would completely change her entire life,’ a source said.

Now, she has set her sights on even loftier ambitions, with insiders saying: Britney wants to become a billionaire.

‘Britney has seen people like Selena Gomez become a billionaire off of her makeup line in a very short period of time. She knew that, if she is going to create that kind of wealth, she needed to develop something that is distinctly her,’ they said.

Then came news in August of a reported eight-figure deal with Universal Pictures to turn her book into a movie.

‘She didn’t ink the deal to the rights for her life story for cheap,’ they added. ‘This is what helped to save her.’

Britney has since been working on her new jewelry line, which promises to sell ‘delicate extremely different one-of-a-kind pieces’ that she has designed herself.
