Budding Australian singer Esha Tewari is just 18-years-old and already sings, strums and produces her own music, with a community of listeners that have catapulted her into the big leagues.ย
What started as a couple of bedroom recordings has now led to a Warner Music distribution deal, an Australian tour, and what Alt Press Magazine considers the podium win of break-up songs.
Esha’s raw voice and emotion-packed songs are worthy of all her recent accolades, but she openly admits she largely owes her global success to a little thing called social media and its ability to make a superstar.
‘I literally did all of this from posting on Instagram and TikTok’, she told Daily Mail Australia, adding while her regular posts seemed ‘minuscule’ in the grand scheme of things, ‘theyย can open so many opportunities.’
‘If you put yourself out there, you never know what could happen,’ she said.
The Gen Z songstress has 601,000 followers on Spotifyย and a song that has inspired 17,000 TikTok creations.ย

Budding Australian singer Esha Tewari is just 18-years-old and already sings, strums and produces her own music, with a community of listeners that have catapulted her into the big leaguesย
But Instagram, where she holds the attention of 246,000 followers, is the singer’s bread and butter.ย ย
‘Instagram is a lot more valuable for me,’ she says. ‘People are a little more sacred with it.’
The platform’s ’emphasis on community building’, through features like the broadcast channel and group chats allowed Esha to connect with listeners on an intimate level, while also sharing music that rings on that same frequency.ย
But social media success doesn’t come easy.
The young star is constantly finding innovative ways to expand her community of fans, or her ‘Tiwarians’ as she dubs them.ย
‘I try really hard to find different ways to connect to my community’, she said, such as by making a Discord server, group chats and even a letter writing platform.
‘When people feel like they’re a part of something, they’re also more likely to tell other people and indoctrinate them into my fan base.’ย
Her fans aren’t the fickle kind. In fact, their dedication to her music is major factor in Esha’s fast-growing success.ย ย ย

What started as a couple of bedroom recordings has now catapulted the young star into a Warner Music distribution deal, an Australian tour and what Alt Press considers the podium win of break-up songs
Last year, Alt Press Magazine shared a post to their Instagram asking people to comment their favourite break-up song.ย
Esha reposted the story to her socials, asking people to comment a track that could soothe a fetal position cry in the wake of a devastating heartbreak.ย
She never could have guessed how hard her fans would rally for her song,ย You Were Mine.
Esha won the publication’s fan-voted rankings of ‘the best ever breakup song in the world’, beating out music greats such as Mayday Parade and My Chemical Romance to the gut-punching podium.ย
‘They really did that!’ she said, adding in disbelief: ‘I didn’t even push it that much.’ย ย ย ย
Esha started out making recordings in her bedroom.ย Her first track, Beautiful Boy, was a song that Esha ‘didn’t really like’ at first.’
In fact, she nearly scrapped it altogether from her first EP called I Can.ย
The song was incredibly popular with fans, though, and talks of Esha’s clear potential began spreading like wildfire.ย

Her accelerating musical journey stemmed from humble beginnings, where she made recordings in her bedroomย
‘I just put my phone on my desk and played… and uploaded it,’ she said.ย
Now, with a producer added to the equation and a Warner Music Deal in her lap, the Aussie musician’s career is skyrocketing.
Unlike many budding musicians, the singer isn’t letting the stars in her eyes blind her from the harsh realities of the music business.ย
Taking a leaf out of pop sensation Taylor Swift’s book, Esha’s biggest priority when signing with Warner was owning her music.ย
‘You definitely hear the horror stories… when people sign onto major labels and get shelved or their catalogue gets sold,’ she says, adding they made her ‘cautious’ at first to jump into a music deal.
But Warner Music offered her exactly what she wanted.ย ย
‘I signed a distribution deal – a short term one – because I just wanted to suss out what being signed or somewhat signed is like’, she said, adding she maintained ownership of her catalogue.ย ย
‘You are granted more freedom because no one owns anything, they just have a percentage.’ย
Later this year, Esha will be touring her catalogue of heartfelt songs across Aussie shores, playing shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.
Her sold-out tour is proof of just how fast she’s hurtling towards stardom.
The singer looks to be heading towards big things as her hard-work ethic and upbeat attitude has seen her win over legions of fans.
