Hotels raking in £1,625 a night prey on Swift’s fans eager to attend her concert

They have already forked out hundreds of pounds on tickets to see their idol.

However, fans of US superstar Taylor Swift heading to her concerts in Edinburgh next month face more financial pressure after hotels hiked the price of staying in the city on the nights of her shows.

Amid the frenzy of Swifties, some hotels are charging more than double for a room on the first Scottish night of her Eras tour on June 7.

Marketing firm Searchbloom analysed the advertised online rates at Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia, where prices are programmed to respond to demand.

It found the most expensive night’s stay was the opening performance by Ms Swift, although the following night was on average only £3 less.

Both are reported to be more than double the cost of hotels in other cities on the pop sensation’s tour.

On Booking.com the going rate for a room for an adult and child at one hotel in the capital on June 7 is an eye-watering £930, compared with £467 the Friday before the gig.

Another is advertising rooms at £1,625 on the first night of the three concerts. Seven days earlier the price is listed as £614.

Another business has advertised a room at £923 on June 7, while the price is listed as £351 on May 31.

The multi-award-winning singer will take to the stage at Murrayfield Stadium to perform in front of an estimated 215,000 fans between June 7 and 9.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Clyde College is hosting a course which will provide a Taylor Swift masterclass ahead of her shows in Scotland.

It is aimed at teaching parents and the uninitiated everything they need to know about the singer before her three gigs.
