Helen Flanagan Opens Up About Health Issues, Kids’ Illness, and Issues with ‘Untrustworthy’ Men

Helen Flanagan revealed a ‘lot has been going on’ with her health woes – hours after sharing a cryptic post about ‘trusting men’ on Instagram on Wednesday.

The former Coronation Street actress, 35, who suffers from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), posted a meme about untrustworthy men before also posting sweet snaps with her kids, having all recovered from a sickness bug.

The post featured a screenshot from Disney’s 1959 animation Sleeping Beauty, in which the Prince is seen asking: ‘Do you trust me?’ to which Sleeping Beauty replies: ‘No, I stopped trusting men a long time ago.’

Helen then explained that she had been quiet on social media because she has had a lot going on and been battling an episode of PMDD – a chronic hormone-related mood disorder that causes emotional and physical symptoms before a period.

She wrote in a post shared to her story: ‘Been so quiet on insta recently. Had a lot going on so didn’t feel like coming on insta and my PMDD has been so bad and all the kids were poorly and so was I with a sickness bug for days. So joyful.’

Helen has been embattled of late, having suffered from financial woes, a break-up from footballer Robbie Talbot and bouts of anxiety.

Last month, the blonde suffered a ‘breakdown’ and claimed she ‘f***ing hates co-parenting’ in an emotional Instagram post.

Helen shares Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three, with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair, 36, and their co-parenting arrangement means the kids spend part of their holidays with Scott – something Helen insists she ‘hates’.

While sobbing into the camera, Helen said: ‘I really, really struggle. I really struggle when they go away and I only like them going away if I’m doing something… I’m suffering really badly with anxiety at the moment’.

Earlier this year, her friends also confirmed that the actress had broken off her relationship with Robbie in May after experiencing a change of heart.

The couple met while appearing on Celebs Go Dating.

A source told The Sun: ‘They want different things in life. She has just landed a new acting job and is trying to juggle work projects with the kids.

‘She sat him down two weeks ago and said, ”This isn’t working”… She just wants to be on her own for a while although she still has feelings for him.’

Weeks earlier, Helen admitted she was no longer living with the Liverpudlian after he briefly moved into her home, claiming it wasn’t helpful for her children who ‘miss’ their dad. The actress and Scott separated in 2022 after 13 years together.

She told The Sun: ‘I’d asked him to stay for a while, because I often get quite scared in the house on my own and feel safer with a man there.

‘But Matilda is very sensitive and a proper daddy’s girl, and she struggles with not seeing Scott as often as she’d like.

‘I always think about how she feels when she misses her dad, and having my boyfriend there maybe doesn’t help her.’

Helen has also been forced to slash the price on her £1.5million family house as she put the home up for sale in May, before reducing it to £1.195million a month later.

Now, the detached, six-bedroom, 5,000sq ft home is up for £995,00.

But, despite her financial troubles, Helen underwent a £500 cosmetic procedure earlier this month.

She took to Instagram to reveal how she had lip filler injected into her face as well as a procedure involving fish sperm.

Helen shared a clip following the treatments where she praised her doctor as she detailed what she had done.

The mum-of-three said: ‘So I have just come in for my second treatment with Natalie. I only go to doctor Natalie for my face, she’s amazing.

‘You’ve got to be very careful with your face so I always get my Botox with Natalie. I don’t have anything in my bottom lip but I do have filler in my top lip but not have it done.

‘I always ask her if I can have some and she’s like ‘no, no, you don’t need anything!’ but yeah I just go to her for my Botox.’

The actress also revealed she had a second treatment for her under-eye area after noticing wrinkles.

Explaining the procedure, she wrote: ‘Polynucleotides are an injectable skin treatment designed to improve the delicate under-eye area using extracts of salmon sperm.

‘They work by stimulating repair at a cellular level, helping to improve skin quality, hydration, and overall brightness. You’ll notice a refreshed, less tired appearance as the skin becomes smoother and more resilient.

‘For best results, we recommend a course of 3 treatments, spaced a few weeks apart, to achieve gradual natural improvements.’

In the UK, polynucleotide treatments generally cost roughly between £200 and £500 per single session, though this varies based on clinics.
