Australian actress Ayesha Madon has come out as bisexual in a tell-all interview about her sexuality.
The Heartbreak High star, 26, who is best known for portraying Amerie Wadia in the Netflix comedy drama, revealed she only accepted she was bi ‘three years ago’.
However, the Logie Award nominee went on to say the signs were always there as she admitted her ‘first kiss was with a girl’, reported Gay Times on Monday.
‘I’ve actually never spoken about my sexuality before in anything, so this is pretty new. I only properly admitted, out loud, that I was bisexual two or three years ago,’ she told the publication.
‘It feels recent. It’s pretty interesting watching myself be attracted to [girls]. My first kiss was with a girl.’
The singer went on to say she was 11 and in acting class when she had her first kiss ‘with a girl called Louise’ who she ‘had the biggest crush on’.
Ayesha recalled her crush was chewing on gum when the actress pretended she wanted to ‘try the gum’ as an excuse to share an ‘amazing’ kiss with her.
Despite having several experiences ‘liking’ other girls, Ayesha admitted that heteronormativity and comphet [compulsory heterosexuality] culture made it difficult for her to understand her own feelings and sexuality.

‘When I was growing up, I felt myself being conditioned or gaslighted into thinking that I was straight,’ she said.
But now Ayesha has confessed that the signs were always there as she’s ‘had crushes on girls my whole life’.
The actress shot to fame in 2022 when she took on the brash leading lady role in the hit Heartbreak High reboot.

Now, with the third and final season of the series confirmed, Ayesha has also recently released the second single from her upcoming EP.
The AACTA Award nominee released her first single, Eulogy, earlier this year and has grand plans to lean into her musical aspirations, reported The Daily Telegraph.
She also revealed to the publication she intends to move overseas after her hit show Heartbreak High wraps on its final season.
Ayesha said she’s ‘definitely going to jump ship to London’ to continue her career in singing and acting when the series is finished.
