The Aperture singer, 32, had his portrait painted by the famous artist and it was later displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in 2023.
Fans have speculated that Harry's outfit choice on Saturday, the second night of a 12 date Wembley run, was a sweet nod to Hockney following his passing.

Harry wore a 'soft lemon' and pink striped crop top finished with frills on the hem and cuff, from JW Anderson's womenswear range costing £510.
Eagle-eyed fans noted that the garment was similar to the knitted cardigan he was wearing in the Hockney portrait and thought it could have been a tribute to him.
This was made more likely by the fact that Harry had shared one of Hockney's quotes on his screens during his first show, hours after the announcement of his death.

The message read: 'What an artist is trying to do for people is bring them closer to something, because of course art is about sharing. You wouldn’t be an artist unless you wanted to share an experience, a thought.'
By coincidence, Hockney's great-nephew, Rich, was in attendance at the show and shared how Harry's tribute had comforted him.

He wrote: 'As sad as I am, tonight I decided to see Harry at Wembley.. I cried, I sang and I danced a lot. Thanks for the wonderful tribute @harrystyles that was special.'
During Harry's first show he paid tribute to his pop roots and his beginnings in One Direction.
'My name is Harry, and it's a pleasure to be here,' said Harry, after arriving onstage in a pinstriped jacket which, to loud cheers, was quickly thrown to one side.
'Just outside this building, 16 years ago, my sister brought me to Wembley Arena for an X Factor audition. It was there where I first got into a band. Driving here today, I drove exactly the same way as I did 16 years ago.'

Harry, born in Redditch and raised in leafy Cheshire, seemed genuinely moved by the memories of his first visit to London.
The Together, Together show is staged partly in the round, with a main stage and a series of illuminated walkways and bridges on the stadium floor and makes full use of the huge space.
After opening with this year's upbeat Are You Listening Yet?, he went on to lean on his pop-orientated back catalogue, dipping into 2019's Fine Line and 2022's Harry's House.
He strapped on a guitar for Golden and was accompanied by two female musicians, a trumpeter and saxophonist, on a rousing Watermelon Sugar, with the trio making their way in unison along one of the walkways.

Last week, Zoë hinted that she could step away from Hollywood to become a mother, as she spoke about the scrutiny around her relationship with Harry.
Posing for a stunning cover shoot with British Vogue, the actress, 37, insisted she doesn't want to pursue her passions while 'having a kid at the same time,' and said she would focus her 'energy' on one of the two.
During the interview, Zoë also spoke about her relationship with Harry, amid speculation the couple are set to tie the knot in the coming months.
Zoë said she likes to be pragmatic around the expectations of balancing her work with motherhood.
She said: 'You just kind of have to be realistic. If I want to do something well, I have to focus on it.
'Knowing myself, I'm not going to have a kid and direct movies at exactly the same time. You just have to decide where you want your energy to be.
'I think that I'm hyper-aware of the fact that I'm going to die one day.
'The other day, I was walking past this woman, she was very old and she was walking so slow. The fact that I can just walk up a flight of stairs with no problem is amazing. Someday I might not be able to.'
Zoë then went on to reference her relationship with Harry, following reports that the couple are planning an 'intimate' winter wedding in the UK.
The Big Little Lies star, who previously dated Channing Tatum, was asked what it's like to fall in love in the public eye.
She said: 'I think doing anything in the public eye is uncomfortable.'
The star said she is aware of the interest surrounding her love life, saying: 'I'm aware it's happening... I'm aware of all the ingredients that create the thing that we're talking about. But that doesn't mean you're necessarily OK with it.'
'There are moments obviously when you just want to hide because it feels overwhelming.
'And then there are moments when you, whether it’s in a defiant way, are like, ''I’m going to walk and get my coffee and you’re not going to take that away from me.''
Harry is believed to be engaged to Zoë after a whirlwind eight-month romance – with the star pictured in April with an enormous diamond ring on her wedding finger.
