Harrison Ford Reminisces about Jimmy Buffett Inspiring Him to Get Ear Pierced During ‘Boozy’ Lunch, Honoring Late Star

Harrison Ford told the story of how Jimmy Buffett, who passed away in September, inspired him to pierce his ear on Saturday during a tribute event in Los Angeles.

The 81-year-old actor took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday during a concert called Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett.

‘I remember a long — some might say “boozy” — lunch with Jimmy and Ed Bradley, and it was Bradley’s birthday. I saw both of them had earrings. So right after lunch, I got my ear pierced,’ Ford remembered fondly.

‘That’s just how infectious Jimmy’s coolness is — infectious enough for a 40-year-old man to spontaneously get his f***ing ear pierced,’ he added.

The Indiana Jones star shared the anecdote before introducing Zac Brown Band.

Harrison also noted that his late friend, who died at 76, was ‘infectious’ enough to  ‘create an entire culture around his music.

‘There is no other way to say it: There will never be another like Jimmy,’ the longtime Hollywood leading man said.

He added about his friend, ‘He was kind. He was beloved by his family, by his friends, by his band, his crew and his collaborators, and he loved them all back.’

Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Jon Bon Jovi, and more turned up to perform at the memorial concert.

Jane Fonda and Woody Harrelson also appeared on stage to share remarks.

Joining Ford at the star-studded celebration of Jimmy’s life was his longtime wife Calista Flockhart, 59.

They met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards, married in 2010, and share the son Calista adopted, Liam Flockhart Ford, 22, in 2001.

Last week it was announced that Harrison will appear in the upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World.

The trailer for the film debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

In the teaser, President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (Ford) is the target of an attempted assassination that is thwarted by Captain America/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

In the clip, President Ross told Wilson, ‘I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers.’

Ford previously played the role of the commander-in-chief as President James Marshall in the 1997 action film Air Force One.
