Guy Sebastian’s Shocking Health Update After Spinal Surgery: ‘I Couldn’t Take the Pain’

Guy Sebastian has given a shocking health update after he underwent two spinal surgeries in one week last month to treat ‘nerve pain’.

The Aussie singer, 43, revealed in August he was suffering from severe pain when he shared a photo of himself post-surgery on Instagram.

He appeared on Sunrise on Friday morning to assure fans he was ‘on the mend’ after the hellish procedure, but was still waiting for feeling to come back in his fingers.

‘I’m alright. It’s been hell, to be honest. It got to a point where I just couldn’t take the pain anymore,’ he told hosts Natalie Barr and Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington.

‘I had no feeling in my hand. I was dropping my guitar picks. I knew something needed to be done.

‘I had surgery and I was one of the rare cases of needing to have it again. So, I had two spinal surgeries within a week. It was hell. But I’m on the mend now.’

‘I knew I had to get everything good because I’m touring next year, for the most part of next year. Yeah, it’s been a rough few weeks, I can’t lie about that,’ he added.

When Nat and Shirvo asked if feeling had returned to his hand, the hitmaker admitted he still couldn’t feel his thumb, index finger, and middle finger ‘all the way through’.

‘[But] the pain is gone. I’m so grateful. I’m one of the lucky ones to be able to get surgery,’ he added.

Guy shocked fans in late August when he revealed he underwent spinal surgery after suffering from ‘nerve pain’.

The pop star took to Instagram to share that he was recovering after undergoing surgery.

Guy shared a photo of himself lying in his hospital bed, complete with a catheter in his hand, revealing he had been in immense pain before the procedure.

Despite his predicament, Guy gave his fans a cheerful thumbs-up in the image.

Captioning the post, Guy revealed he had been experiencing unbearable nerve pain in his spine.

‘They say it comes in threes. There’s been a lot of highs this year but it’s also been a year where I’ve had to manage a LOT of physical pain,’ Guy wrote.

‘The worst of it has been this nerve pain in my spine shooting down my right side. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone,’ he continued.

‘It just never stops and it’s all-consuming, while trying to work, travel, do gigs etc.’

Guy added he was pleased the surgery was completed and he looked forward to making a full recovery.

‘I am, however, so grateful for the fact that I have been able to have spinal surgery yesterday. I hope it gives me relief and the strength comes back in my arm,’ he wrote.

‘My goal is to get all of this sorted and bounce back hard for tour early next year. I’ll get there and I will get it done but wow, in a fair bit of pain right now.’
