Grant Denyer has claimed his near-death moment on last year’s The Amazing Race Australia was much worse than what went to air.
The Logie winner, 46, suffered a frightening medical emergency, collapsing from heatstroke after competing in a dance challenge with wife Chezzi in the humid Indian weather.
Speaking to Yahoo Australia, the TV presenter said: ‘Most of the time in television we tend to turn the drama up and this time we turned it down a little bit in the telecast because it was pretty confronting.’
‘I didn’t realise how hardcore and potentially fatal [heatstroke] is…when you’re dropping in and out of consciousness and you’re convulsing on the floor, it’s not easy on everyone that’s around you at that time,’ he added.
Grant went on to say that it took him seven weeks to fully recover from the ordeal.

In dramatic scenes which aired, Grant can be seen on the ground as paramedics struggle to give him urgent medical attention while wife Chezzi watches on.
‘Can we get the medic? He’s shaking, he’s shivering,’ a voice can be heard saying.
‘We were cooking from the inside,’ Chezzi explained to cameras after completing their latest challenge.
Things then took a sudden turn for the worst when it was apparent Grant was very unwell.
‘You need to sit down. Grant? You’re not OK, are you? You’re looking like you’re going to faint,’ Chezzi yelled.

Medics soon brought him inside to an airconditioned room, however his face worryingly pale.
‘He’s not looking good – he’s shivering on the floor,’ Survivor star George Mladenov said as he watched on from outside.
‘He was really pale and dropping in and out of consciousness, and I thought, “This is really serious. I don’t think he realises how serious this is,”‘ said Chezzi.
Grant eventually recovered to the point that he was able to sit up and walk around – but it was too much for them to continue the race and the couple were eliminated from the show.
