Jazmine Sullivan shared a heartbreaking life update as she marked her 38th birthday.
The Philadelphia-bred R&B singer took to Instagram on Instagram to mark her birthday while also candidly revealing a recent tragedy.
Taking to Instagram Stories, she thanked fans for their birthday wishes while also revealing she had suffered a miscarriage.
‘Whew.. thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say,’ she wrote of her mom, Pamela, who died in 2023.
She then added, ‘Also as I realized I woulda been holding my two month old son that I never got to meet.
‘So needless to say I’ve been down bad,’ Sullivan candidly shared with her 2.3 million followers.

Looking at the bright side of things, she noted she enjoyed a massage that served her well.
‘Yesterday I had a massage that helped to release some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while. So I’m grateful for that,’ she told fans.
Continuing to express her appreciation, Jazmine went on: ‘I’m also grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time. to write! It’s all so beautiful!!’
And finally she asked her supporters, ‘Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s a** whooping.’
Two videos uploaded via Instagram Stories showed the songstress admiring a personalized birthday cake designed with photos of her and loved ones.
It moved her to tears — the longtime music artist held her head in her hands as she was overwhelmed with emotion.
She was surrounded by loved ones in the snippets, and wrote over one post, ‘Thank you @marquette21 for thinking of me and thank you @sweet_ves_treatery for this beautiful cake! As you can see I cried my lil heart out!’

Jazmine has been documenting her grieving process online in the wake of her mom’s death from breast cancer.
After she turned 37 last year, she wrote, ‘I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that.’
‘I cried all month,’ she confessed. ‘I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that! ❤️.’
The musician burst onto the scene with her 2008 album Fearless, which features the singles Need U Bad, Bust Your Windows, and Dream Big.
In 2022 she won Best R&B Album for Heaux Tales at the the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
