All American acknowledged the passing of Kamar de los Reyes during Monday night’s episode.
The actor, who joined the CW series in Season 4 as the beloved football Coach Montes, passed away last December at 56, after a battle with cancer.
He appeared in the Season 6 premiere of the long-running CW series, but was not able to film more before his death.
And on Monday’s episode 10, it was revealed that his character was not killed off the series. Instead, he took a job with the NFL.
The exit was explained during a phone call between Cody Christian’s Asher Adams and Coach Montes.

‘There was so much love around him. I mean, he touched so many lives.’
‘He loved being an actor and he was a great actor.’
‘His love and commitment to his craft meant that De Los Reyes continued working throughout his illness, showing up on the set of All American, ‘two weeks before his death. He was fierce to the end,’ Easton said.

The Hollywood community turned out to support the family as they bid farewell to their beloved husband and father.
‘People stretched out all the way outside,’ he said of the attendance at the memorial. ‘People showed [who] hadn’t seen him in 20 years. That was the effect. So many of the One Life to Live cast members came and [the] cast from All American’ turned out as well.’
