Glenn Powell has been doing the press rounds for his new movie Anyone But You recently, as he revealed a rather harrowing story that almost lead to his death.
The 35-year-old actor stars alongside Sydney Sweeney as a couple who dated briefly and find themselves at a destination wedding where they pretend to be a couple… despite their rather intense hatred towards one another.
Powell hit the red carpet for the upcoming comedy’s New York City premiere, ahead of the December 22 release date, where he told Variety about the near-death mishap.
The scene in question happens when Sweeney’s character Bea has to take a spider out of Powell’s character Ben’s shorts.
‘You just have to grip it and rip it on a scene like that. You know you’re not going to leave that filming day looking cool, so you just have to embrace it,’ Powell said.

‘Taking your clothes off on the side of a cliff in a hurry is not safe either,’ Powell said, referring to the harrowing experience.
‘Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast. But it’s a really fun scene, so it was all worth it,’ Powell said.
The scene was also rather dangerous for Sweeney too, revealing on the red carpet that the spider bit her.
‘There’s the spider itself, which actually bit me, and that was a whole thing. And then we have the part of Glen bending over and me checking to see if there are more spiders,’ she said
She added that it took half a day to film the spider scene, joking, ‘I’m very acquainted with Glen now.’
There had long been rumors of a steamy romance between Sweeney and Powell during production, but both stars have denied any romantic connections.
The romance rumors heated up when Powell’s girlfriend Gigi Powell unfollowed Sweeney on Instagram before the couple broke up, though Sweeney is still with her fiance Jonathan Davino.
‘It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much,’ Sweeney said.

She added, ‘He’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour.
She added, ‘I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, “That’s really funny.”‘
Powell opened up in a Men’s Health cover story about the rumors, revealing they were ‘disconcerting.’
‘When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair. But what I’m realizing is that’s just a part of this gig now,’ he said.
