Family Guy is an animated sitcom that’s been on air for over 25 years, since its premiere in 1999. It centers around the misadventures of the dysfunctional Griffin family living in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island.

The announcement arrives on the heels of Powell’s recent box office triumph, Twisters.

Twisters created a storm of business at the box office over the weekend, churning up an estimated $80.5 million for it debut, exceeding expectations and garnering the highest box office opening for a live action film this summer so far.

The film is a long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 film Twister and also stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka and Paul Scheer.

In the film Daisy stars as a Kate Cooper, a young woman traumatized by a tornado who is lured back when her friend Javi (Ramos) shows her a new system to map the paths of storms.

But the two clash with Tyler Owens (Powell) a flashy storm chaser who risks his life to get close to tornadoes for lucrative social media content.

A note at the end of the trailer said that Universal Pictures is partnering with the American Red Cross to help people affected by disasters.

Twisters is a stand-alone sequel to the 1996 film Twister that starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz and Cary Elwes.

The classic film sees two storm chasers on the brink of divorce be forced to work together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes.

Since starring in the film, Glen said that he hopes Twisters could open the door for more movies catered to Middle America.

‘Having grown up in and around Texas, I’m aware there are vast parts of America that have been underserved in terms of movies that they want to see,’ Glen shared in an interview with The Telegraph.

‘You sort of have New York and Los Angeles making the decisions about what gets made, but there’s a whole lot more audience out there you need to think about.’

The Twisters star also noted that filming his 2023 romcom Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney helped him realize what was missing.

‘One of the things that I’ve realized recently is that when studios say a genre is dead, all it means is that there’s a huge opportunity, because a market is not being served,’ Glen continued.

‘The business stopped making romantic comedies, apparently, because romantic comedies weren’t making any money in theaters. But my belief is there’s no problem facing Hollywood that can’t be solved by a really good movie.’

The Scream Queens alum is hopeful he can serve the areas – like the ‘vast part’ he is from – with more of the films they want.

In fact, Glen has decided to move back to his home state of Texas to finish his college degree and be closer to his family.

In May, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he is reaping the benefits of ‘getting to this point in Hollywood is that I can now leave Hollywood. It’s like I’ve earned the ability to go back to my family.’

Talking about Hollywood functions, Glen noted, ‘I think you get enough of those that you just want to bring your family as close as possible – or run to them.’

The Top Gun: Maverick actor continued: ‘I think this is going to be good for my head, heart and soul.’
