Geri Halliwell-Horner has criticised Madonna’s latest work as she revealed the reason why the Spice Girls haven’t reunited yet.
Speaking to Times Radio on Tuesday, the singer, 52, explained there is the prospect of new material from the band ‘if it felt relevant’.
Chatting to Fi Glover for the Off Air with Jane & Fi podcast, she was asked about the potential for new music and used Madonna as an example while explaining her reasoning.
Geri said: ‘If it felt relevant, but if not, either way is okay. Because I always come from a fan perspective.
‘Let’s say Madonna, right? I’m a massive Madonna fan. I would say I want to hear Holiday and Into the Groove, but I love Ray of Light.’
She continued: ‘Have I connected to her latest stuff? No. But she has every right to do that as an artist. It’s the relevance. So if it felt relevant…’

Host Fi clarified: ‘Then you would, yeah?’ to which Geri simply responded: ‘Yeah’.
Elsewhere in the interview, on dealing with the demands of fame and press interviews, the pop star said she takes inspiration from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Geri quipped: ‘I always go from our late queen. There are times when we feel like, what do I do here?
‘And I always look to her and think, she handled her life with such good manners. I love that.
‘Sometimes the most powerful thing is to say nothing and let the circumstances unfold, even when we feel we want to shout or blah, blah, blah.
‘Actually, if you look at her as such a great role model with grace and strength… And you know, her life wasn’t, you know, like all of us, no one’s asking for perfection. I think sometimes we don’t know the answers.’
It comes just after revealed a shocking fact about her iconic Union Jack dress almost 30-years after it catapulted her to superstardom.
The singer wore the unforgettable outfit while performing with her bandmates at the 1997 BRITs and it now holds the the Guinness World Record for the most expensive piece of pop star clothing sold at an auction – after selling for £41,320 in 1998.
Speaking on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 earlier this month, Geri revealed the garment’s very humble beginnings, leaving the host, and Spice Girls superfan, stunned.

She said: ‘It was a normal black dress. It was a Gucci dress. It was actually like a 50s swimming costume, really structured and it was just black, and it was kindly gifted to me and then [the Union Jack flag] was a tea towel’.
‘I wanted to find a flag and found it on a tea towel and that’s it, it got it stitched on. So cut out and stitched on, that’s it.
Before adding: ‘And then the boots are sprayed with car paint’.
Geri was then asked by a fan about the possibility of a sequel to the band’s 1997 movie Spice World – which was panned by critics but adored by fans and has since achieved a cult following.
Geri admitted: ‘I haven’t really thought about it, I don’t know. I mean twos, they’ve got to sleigh like Paddington Bear 2. That’s the best sequel ever’.
‘Spice World 2? That’s an interesting thought, I’ll circle back’.
The movie saw Geri, Emma Bunton, 49, Mel B, 49, Mel C, 51, and Victoria Beckham, 50, play madcap versions of themselves who lived on a huge Union Jack tour bus.
The film also featured a slew of star-studded cameos including Richard E. Grant, Alan Cumming, Stephen Fry, Elton John and Hugh Laurie.
Back in 2021 it was reported the band had approached a screenwriter to pen a star-studded sequel to their 90s hit movie ahead of their 25th anniversary.

A source told The Sun that while Geri is leading the plan, Emma, Mel C and Mel B are also tentatively on board, and are hoping the project could tempt back ex-bandmate Victoria.
A source said: ‘The girls have been talking about how to mark the film’s anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel.
‘They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward.
‘It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously.’
