Former AFL star Fraser Brown has purchased the sprawling Cranbourne Golf Course in Melbourne for the jaw-dropping sum of $190million.
The footy great-turned-property developer, 53, recently snapped up the 70.4ha sporting field through his development company Brown Property Group.
The site was listed on the market in February and has been given approval to transform it into a residential development.
Brown, who played for Carlton from 1989 – 2000, previously transformed another nearby golf course into residential properties through his company, and looks set to do the same.
Peter Sagar, senior director of property advisory firm LAWD, said there were over 20 offers from real estate heavy hitters to secure the desirable land.

‘We received offers totalling over $3.5b on the land. There was a lot of disappointment from other developers who missed out,’ he told Realcommercial.com.au.
‘It was a highly sought-after asset, and we are thrilled with the price and the campaign we had.’
Brown turned to real estate following his retirement from AFL and has since been integral in helping his company make huge profits over the past two decades.

He is also the proud owner of several luxury properties and in 2021 was reported to be living the tropical dream.
According to The Herald Sun, the retired Carlton player bought a stunning oceanfront home in Port Douglas for $8.25million.
The mansion was purchased in December 2020 through the Fraser Brown Group, whose sole shareholder is the sportsman’s wife, Christine Brown.

The sprawling estate, which boasts 360-degree ocean views, has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a two-car garage and a resort-style pool.
There is also a clifftop garden featuring palm trees that overlooks the water.
Fraser is known for his impressive footy career, playing for Carlton for 12 seasons.
He became a legendary figure after his famous tackle of Essendon’s Dean Wallis in the 1995 Preliminary Final.
