Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks has revealed that she is recording her first album in 14 years.
The 76-year-old singer promised it will be an examination of her love life and has already penned tracks about her romances. She also confessed that it will even include a song about Prince.
‘I’m actually making a record right now,’ Stevie said as she was inducted into the Pollstar Live Hall of Fame on Wednesday night.
‘I call it the Ghost record because it just kind of happened in the last couple of weeks. I have seven songs and they are autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life.
‘They’re not airy-fairy songs that you’re wondering who they’re about, but you really don’t get it. They are real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men.’
Stevie explained that she started work on the new album after being evacuated from her Los Angeles home due to the wildfires and after being evacuated for 91 days she needed to ‘get back to work.’

The album, currently titled Ghost, will be her first new long play release in 14 years after 2011’s In Your Dreams and will likely touch on famous partners like Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Don Henley and Jimmy Iovine.
Divorcee Stevie famously had an affair in 1977 with her married Fleetwood Mac bandmate Mick Fleetwood, as she was still dealing with her split from bandmate Lindsey Buckingham.
Steview opened up about her plans as she was inducted into Pollstar Live! Music Hall of Fame at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
Stevie’s music career dates back to the 1960s, forming Buckingham Nicks before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1974.
She went solo in the early 1980s and has had one of the most successful careers in the music business and is the only women to be elected to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame twice.
According to Pollstar Boxoffice Reports, Stevie has averaged 10,200 tickets and $1.2 million gross per show. Her career gross, listed at $320 million, is much higher with her Boxoffice reports only dating back to 2001. If you add in Fleetwood Mac’s Boxoffice total of $600 million and her solo career launched in 1981 she easily crosses the $1 billion mark.
Stevie was given a standing ovation at the prestigious event and joked that her success is down to her relentless work ethic and thanks to her Fleetwood Mac bandmates being ‘lazy bums’.
The Rooms On Fire artist admitted: ‘I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days and at some point during that last part of the 92 days, I said, you know what? I feel like I’m on the road, but there’s no shows. I’m just sitting here by myself because everybody else is at the house doing all the remediations and everything. And it’s just me sitting here.’
Stevie admitted that recalling a tense moment with Prince, who died in 2016, sparked her idea to delve deep into some of her male relationships.
‘I’ve written a song about Prince because we were friends and there’s one time when I went to the premiere of Purple Rain. And I watch it. It gets to the middle, he slaps Apollonia and I freak out. I go to the fancy bathroom and sit there for the rest of the whole movie.

‘So I go across the street to the party, he’s upstairs in a little room and he’s basically waiting for me. And he goes, ‘well, did you love it?’ And I’m like, ‘I only saw the first half. Because you slapped that girl and it upset me; but I brought you a gift. It’s a really beautiful 24 karat necklace with little gold hearts on it here.’
And this is in the song. and he goes, ‘I don’t want your necklace, Stevie.. You always bring me a gift. You never bring me you.’
‘This is where this record began. I am ready to write.
‘So that’s what I’m doing so that I can go back on the road and do what I love the most, which is be a chanteuse out there somewhere, you know in Ohio , and have a good time because that’s what it has become for me. ‘
She joked that growing her hair ‘made me 10 years younger’ adding : ‘It doesn’t matter if I’m 77, it matters that I am protected, watched over and loved and that people give me their hearts and they come and they meet me.
‘And thank God Covid is better enough that we’re not having to fight that so hard.
‘And so just you to know that I love all of you so much for what you do, for all of us.’
Stevie didn’t discuss any future plans for Fleetwood Mac, but did pay tribute to Buckingham, who she refuses to work alongside today.
‘In 1968 is when I joined a band with Lindsay up in San Francisco. And we did for two years play the band was really good. We opened for every San Francisco band that there was for Chicago, for Jimi Hendrix for 75,000 people.
‘So it was not so hard for us to just go into Fleetwood Mac, because Lindsay and I were right . And in the band that we joined Fleetwood Mac, we were right here. And so it was kind of the same thing. So when we came into Fleetwood Mac, we weren’t all that surprised about anything. We loved it. It was really, really good, but we weren’t that surprised.’

‘Think about the influence she’s had on generations of young women singers, massive Taylor Swift just in this decade. Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lana del Ray. It is extraordinary and there are things that separate artists apart.
‘Stevie’s voice is from another place. I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of different great singers over the past, and when I was a producer or scope or any of that stuff, a lot of great singers and it takes nothing away from them.
‘But there’s only two singers that I’ve ever worked with that never had to sing a second take. And that is impossible. And one was Stevie Nicks and the other one was John Lennon.
‘They walk to that microphone and this is how I sing, and you better record it quick.’
He doubled down: ‘You are the greatest woman, rock star ever. You are the GOAT – the greatest who ever done it. it.’
