Jessica Lange made her triumphant return to the Ryan Murphy universe in the first trailer for Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, which premieres January 31 on FX and February 1 on Hulu.
The 74-year-old acting veteran’s mystery character could be seen smoking and laughing on a lounge chair alongside Ann Woodward (Demi Moore), who was infamously accused of murdering her husband in 1955.
Jessica could also be seen glammed up dancing with acclaimed writer Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) in a fancy ballroom at a black-tie event.
Capote notoriously lost his high-society privilege in 1976 after Esquire published chapters from his unfinished novel Answered Prayers – specifically a tell-all about his wealthy ‘swan’ gal pals titled La Côte Basque 1965.
The betrayal and fall-out are depicted in showrunner Jon Robin Baitz’s small-screen adaptation of Laurence Leamer’s 2021 book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era.

Creator Ryan Murphy gushed on Instagram December 5 that he was ‘so excited about this one’ and said working with his longtime muse Lange and the rest of the all-star ensemble cast ‘thrilling.’
In 2017, Jessica – who’s only a Grammy away from elite EGOT status – famously headlined the first season of Feud, which was centered on the Joan Crawford and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) rivalry.
Lange previously starred in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology American Horror Story for five seasons – Murder House (2011), Asylum (2012), Coven (2013), Freak Show (2014), and Apocalypse (2018).
The Marlowe actress also portrayed Infinity’s (Zoey Deutch) grandmother Dusty Jackson in the first season of Ryan Murphy’s The Politician, which streamed in 2019 on Netflix.
All eight episodes of Capote Vs. The Swans were directed by two-time Oscar nominee Gus Van Sant.
